OT-810 2 door on Ebay
Mine has that same front as did all the 79 810s. This one appears to be missing some of the emblems and doesn't have the factory option right side power mirror. Those Maxima wheels would have to go! That 'Torino' roof makes the roof look to long imo. Here's a couple of more up to date pictures of mine showing the correct wheels and the front.

What is your desktop wallpaper?
I'm currently using this one. It's a picture of a Z that belongs to member ezzzzzzz. I usually change my wallpaper every couple of weeks or so. I mainly use something that is Z or at least Datsun related.

Poll: Should we prevent gallery downloads?
Believe me, Alan, I can relate to what you are saying, but what is the solution? Nearly 90% of the members who voted don't mind if their pictures are downlodable and yet the galleries are locked up. I personally don't have the answer that will satisfy everyone and I don't know if there is one.

What was I thinking?

Welcome! Always good to see a clean 280. I had those rims on mine for a while but I had them polished. Just didn't look right, too shiny! Yours look much better with the original finish.

just curious
According to the ad, the AC was installed aftermarket probably by a shop local to the dealer. They used ARA a lot here in SoCal. The controlls seemed to go wherever the shop decided to put them. (this is an answer to zhead (post #3) and Vicky (post #4) QUOTE: The original owner's manual and A/C warranty showing 1973 installation date. . . As far as i know you wouldn't get that with factory air since it would be covered by the car's warranty.

Poll: Should we prevent gallery downloads?
I think the poll speaks for itself. Almost 90% of the voters don't give a rats a$$. Put it back how it was. If it wasn't for all of this damn whining, this sight would be as interesting as it once was.

cleaning k and n's
No high pressure hoses! It'l ruin the filter. Spray it with K&N filter cleaner, rinse it from the inside out with a garden hose, let it dry, oil it, and you're good to go.

brake problem
I was going to mention the check valve as I once had a problem with mine. My car is a 78 and I'm not sure how similar it is to a 72 but when mine went out I didn't hear any hissing. It just wouldn't allow the booster to hold vacuum. Replaced it and the problem went away.

Ford's newest addition
From a side view it kind of looks like the old Bill Thomas Cheetah if anyone remembers that car from the early 60s.

L28ET Upgrades
Fever, I'm glad you uderstood what I meant. I had hoped you didn't think I was just giving you a hard time. I would attempt to restore the BPE to as original as possible. Doesn't mean that I'm right or wrong. Just another opinion

Headlamps
Try Silvania SilverStar headlights. I've had them on my 810 for over a year now with no problems. They are nearly as bright as H-4s and require no electrical mods. But I would also check your wiring, fuse box, etc.

What is a Datsun 1978 Hardbody station wagon?

Return of the Handbrake!!
I'm not disagreeing with the intent of the designer. I was simply looking at the way the cars were actually built. Nor am I taking the viewpoint of the "arrogant American" and stating in any way that I feel that these cars were built for the US. And, like Lachlan, I was not trying to again open up the debate about which country it was built for. And to Alan P., I fully agree with your last line. A large percentage of the greatest cars in the world were built outside of the US.

'76 fuel tank wanted
There are two 280Z tanks. 75-76 and 77-78. I learned that the hard way about seven years ago.
