Convertible Conversion
I don't know if there ever was a kit. Years ago, a company called The Griffith Custom Coach Company in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. did Z convertable conversions. You would either have to find a shop or do it yourself.

Painted Calipers?
Same theory as EScanlon except I use NOW paint. It's made my Sherwin-Williams and sold by ACE Hardware. I've used it for years and it's always been cheaper and works just as well as Krylon or Rustoleum. Ironically, I now work for ACE so I get an employee discount on it too!

Z Music
Albums: Can't Buy A Thrill (1972) Countdown To Ecstasy (1973) Pretzel Logic (1974) Katie Lied (1975) The Royal Scam (1976) Aja (1977) 'Gaucho' just misses the cut (1980). They disbanded after that. Donald Fagen did some solo albums (Nightfly, Kamakiriad) late 80s-early 90s and Walter Becker did a solo album (11 Tracks of Whack) unsure of year, it wasn't very good. Fagen and Becker reunited as Steely Dan in 2000 for 'Two Against Nature' and did 'Everthing Must Go' in 2003. There are some collection albums, 'Citizen Steely Dan', 'Steely Dan's Greatest Hits', and 'Steely Dan-Live In America'.

I thought I had one too but I looked and all I could find is the vertical mount radio from a 1600 Roadster I once owned. That old Hitachi 8 track is around here somewhere! I have had it for over 30 years! It came out of the 72 Z I once owned.

here you are skyline buffs...prince skyline
I'm not trying to sabatoge this Skyline thread but I had asked about 810 (200B) parts and I was just wondering if this was in response to that.

Black Friday, Reeling In The Years, Bodisatva, Parker's Band, etc. The Dan has a lot of tunes that crank!

Aren't all songs basically stories? With the possible exception being 'In a godda da vida'. :classic:

turbocharging
I've thought of doing that to my 810 daily driver. Imagine what a 'sleeper' it would be!

It needs that bonnet for the Small Block Chevy (most likely) that's under the hood!

Too Rich when hot
Does that blower really do anything. I have a 78 280Z and a 79 810. They are both fuel injected and they both have no blower. In fact from 75-78 there was no blower on the Zs. The 810s and Maximas never had them. I think that they are just one of many unnecessary gadgets from the 280ZX. IMHO it's just another useless item that draws current from your electical system. I'd look elsewhere for a solution.

Looking for LD28 crank
I'd have to do some research on the weight but shipping from Southern California to Australia? Do you really think it would be worth it?

Factory 240Z headers
I am presently looking at a USA 'Datsun Competition Parts', catalog. It has to be from late 1972 or early 1973 since it only mentions these cars: 240Z, 510/610, 1600/2000, and 1200. I makes no mention of headers but has these two exhaust items: 99996-E1045 240Z Exhaust System A complete muffled dual pipe exhaust system from the engine to the back of the car. Will work on a 1970, 1971, or 1972 240Z with manual transmission. 99996-E1042 Racing Megaphone The 240Z exhaust system if designed so the rearmost section of the exhaust system, which contains the glass pack type mufflers, can be easily removed and the megaphone system installed in its place. This gives a straight- through unmuffled exhaust system. All taken verbatim from the catalog.

Can you get late 70s 810 (200B) coupe parts there? Are there any other sources in Australia besides Rare Spares? I've dealt with them and they've been great but they don't have a couple of things I'm looking for.

That may be true although the 'Animal' tune kind of cranks, but I would hardly lump Toto with Jim Croche. A lot of bands are story teller bands. Like Steely Dan. You just have to understand the story!

Looking for LD28 crank
I think I'll start pulling these things when I see them. There seems to be more than a casual interest in them. I come across them fairly often.

But, like Lachlan said, where would you find the parts?

Looking for LD28 crank
There are two Maxima diesels at the Ecology in Rialto but that's in California. They seem to be somewhat available as I have seen a few over the last couple of years in the Pick a Parts, Ecologys, etc. They are about 40 bucks if you pull one yourself at a self service wrecker.

240z Power Steering?
I guess as long as you remember that it would be okay! But seriously, I'm not very familiar with the suspension and steering in a ZX.

John Collins' 280ZX funny car (1980s)
Yeah, that's how the did them back then. They weren't very successful but I cheered them on anyway 'cause they were Datsun's. Even though they were Chrysler hemi powered!
