I don't think that will cause any problems functionally but I'd be afraid that more could break loose and have pieces rattling around inside the water pump area. If it were me, I'd find another front cover.

I actually gave away a couple of Datsun signs somewhat similar to those back in the 90s. They came from a dealership I once worked for briefly back in the 70s that had closed down sometime in the 80s. I carried them around with me for years and each time I moved, they ended up being stored in the 'new' garage. They were rather large and cumbersome. The idea of hanging them on the wall in the garage never really excited me all that much and what else would you do with them?

I don't know, Marty. I've been through both scenarios they are two different smells. On a car with a catalytic converter, the description "rather potent smell of sulfur (rotten egg type smell)" would lead me to Frank's conclusion....
