  1. Actually, it's missing the rear half of the console. Looks like it was cut off just behind the area where the shifter/shift boot goes. That car is fairly shiny outiside but pretty sloppy most everywhere else.

I sold two for $250 ea. in 2004 and kept one for myself (which I still have). I paid $40 ea. for the first two and $45 for the one I still have. Got them all at self service junkyards. You don't see them very often anymore. Don't know what someone would pay nowdays for one but I would guess it would be more than I sold mine for.

I would go with what Anthony says first before I'd trust your mechanics conclusion. I'd be curious as to what kind of 'diagnostic' he did since there's nowhere to plug in the commonly used equipment when working on these 30 plus year old cars. Is he familiar with 280Z EFI? Does he know that even when everything is right that you'll never see 12 volts at the injectors since there are dropping resistors in the system that lower the voltage to the injectors and to the ECU?

Single side draft. Could be a Weber (most likely) a Mikuni, or a Dellorto. Can't really tell from the pics. It appears to be mounted on a manifold that is actually an adapter that uses the stock manifold(s). IMO it's vintage but to say it's an upgrade would be a stretch. I've been around these cars since they came to the US and I've only seen two or maybe three of those conversions.
  6. No problem. GeoCities web hosting closed down on October 26, 2009 so any websites that were hosted by them have moved elsewhere like this one or have closed down entirely.
  7. This one? http://webspace.webring.com/people/cz/z_design_studio/
  8. To be blatently honest, the answer is NO. A nearly 30 year old or an over 30 year old car as WingZro suggests, would never be a good first car for a 16 year old. You'd either have to find one in 'perfect' condition, which would exceed your budget (drastically) or possess mad mechanical skills.
  9. I doubt it. They built a lot of those miserable little vehicles over the years and the weatherstrips being used for Datsuns will probably cancel out with the number of Sportages that are in the junkyard or otherwise no longer on the road.

Not knowing or even caring much about Ford Ranger history, I'll just say that when I bought the thing last December it had (and still has) blue "EDGE" decals on the rear sides of the bedrails. Perhaps something one of the many PO's added to it. I really could care less, however since it's simply a daily driver/beater/etc.

My GTO and my Ranger are the 50th and 51st car I've owned. I was first licensed to drive in 1966. I'm sure I've listed them at some point during my 7 or so years here so I'll spare everyone from that.
  12. What did either of the cars in the last two posts cost when new?
  13. Wrong venue for any Z (unless it's a Z-28)
  14. Those photos don't appear to have been taken at the venue of the auction. Perhaps the emblems/etc. were there when it was at the auction.
  15. I sold all three of my Datsuns for more than I had in them.
  16. Based on the description of what was done to the car, how much profit could there really be selling it for that price? I'd have to agree with Bigoak. "Still no love".

It would appear that she solved it herself.
  18. Simple answer: No. It has been done but does require some machine work and fabrication. You can use a 5W71C transmission with a 280z-280zx bellhousing to fit the transmission to your L24. It would require some grinding on the bellhousing to clear the front gears on the input and counter shafts and swapping the front counter shaft bearings. Also you'd need to put the bellhousing in a mill and drill out the 5th/reverse shift rod hole to 16mm from 14mm. You'd need to make a trans mount and a longer driveshaft since this trans is 2-3 inches shorter. You'd be better off finding a trans designed for an S30.
  19. I paid less than 30 bucks for the last externally regulated remanufactured Datsun alternator I purchased. I bought it at Kragen/O'Reilly. It lasted for years and when I sold the car it went with it. In looking it up I see that they're still only $32.99 plus 10 for the core. Lifetime warranty also.
  20. I prefer the song you allude to in your signature.......
  21. 4,3,2,1.... Earth below us, drifting, falling, Floating weightless, calling, calling home
  22. I understood what he meant. I'm just not that paranoid so as to not put something on my car for fear of it being tampered with or stolen. The stark reality is that if they want it, they're going to get it. With or without the embellishments.
  23. It works for me. What program are you using to open it?

Here they just mark 'mileage exceeds odomoter limits' or something to that effect.
  25. GT-R engine, why not a GT-R badge?
