Those appear to be a quality wire at least going by their description and they shouldn't cause any problem with the stereo. I don't have any experience with CB radios. Likely they are different from a car stereo as in what type of signals/frequencies/interference would affect them.
  2. I think you can do it but, then again, I think that everyone should be able to work on their car. I've always been fearless when it comes to diving into things like that even before I actually had developed the skills. I always figured that I'd get as far as I could and if I got in over my head I could always seek further help. I've been successful way more often than not. Just make sure you do as much research and gather as much info as you can before you start the job. Don't be afraid to ask questions, we're here.

Looks to me that all the switch does is complete a ground until the temp reaches a certain level then it opens. If the temperature they open is the same then all you'd have to do is splice your 76 connectors onto the 74 wires. It wouldn't even matter if the wires got switched since all it does is complete a ground. These are the ones I have that open at 35 deg. C. I'm just not sure they would fit the water outlet.

IIRC, isn't a Mag core wire an unsupressed copper core similar to a 'race' wire? Could be part of your problem.

Oh, that's very different, never mind! My apologies to FastWoman. Does your present switch have any markings on it? Such as, 35-OFF, or something along those lines?

74? The switch we're talking about was on a 75-76 and was there to select which pickup in the dual-pickup distributor was used, as stated earlier.

It that switch on (continuity) or off (no continuity) at operating temp? If it's off I may have something that would work. EDIT: Never mind, I just looked at the switches I have and if the ones posted above are correct, the threads on mine don't match.

Those are for a ZX. They're made to fit in the existing openings on a ZX and replace the original vents. If you really want a vented hood, look for a 77-78 280Z hood.
  9. Unless you re torqued the head before you saw leakage, problem solved...for now. Once the process begins and you develop warpage on the gasket, it weakens. It's only a matter of time...BTDT.
  10. And, your point is......???????

Here's a link to the 1982 280ZX FSM in a zipped pdf. Take a look at the manual trans section, it may be of some help: http://www.xenons130.com/files/82_datsun_280zx.zip

    EDIT: Never mind.

  15. Well, not knowing where or what it is makes it difficult to locate and difficult to know what to do with it when you do find it.

That's not really the topic.....but you should know that since you started it. Just another CZCC sidebar.
  17. I think that this has been sufficiently beaten to death. All CrossroadsZ wanted to know last year was could he put a ZX module in a 77 280Z and when petec revived it he was just looking for the GM module part number, which he got.

I'd also have to disagree on famous person ownership, present or previous really meaning much. Cars have no choice over who buys them and I don't think Nissan did any special builds for famous buyers.
  19. The relays aren't located there on your 78, however. It was unclear to me as to what ROBINSONS was actually looking for since no component in the EFI sytem is actually referred to as a 'module'. In fact, Nissan didn't even use that term when referring to the transistor ignition unit.
  20. I assume you mean the electronic fuel injection relay in a 1977 280Z?
  21. Somewhere along to line, Nissan stopped putting engine numbers on the tag on S30s. It was sometime during the 280Z production years IIRC. We've discussed that before. I know that there were no engine numbers on the tag on my 78.
  22. That info, i.e. interior/exterior colors, isn't even a part of the present day 17 digit vin system as far as I know.
  23. That's not a 280 or a 200SX trans. Wrong type of shifter. Are you sure it's a 5 speed? Looks like a type A trans. Stock vs. stock a 510 trans is shorter than an S30 trans.
  24. Oh, that one. I have that on my computer in .doc format. Using a HEI Ignition Module with a Factory Electronic Distributor.doc
