Finding info on original owner!
Tom (240ZX) likely entered that info on the spreadsheed himself as many of us did.

gotta sell my 69 fairlady
Sounds to me like he actually had an automatic transmission based on his comment: Though with the typos and/or questionable content I can't be certain......

Does an accurate wiring diagram exist for early 1970 240Z?
1972 is the earliest I have a link to as far as an FSM. I also have that same wiring diagram that duffman attached.

The Value of your Car
When I was insured with Hagerty, I didn't have to give them any documentation. Just a few pictures.

No offense, Rick, but did you read this entire thread before you decided to revive it after it's, what, 4 1/2 year sluimber? If so, why?

Difference between a Sportscar and a Performance Sedan
Whatever you say; it's your thread so I guess you can supply the definitions. The 'willy-nilly' emoticon: See ya!

Difference between a Sportscar and a Performance Sedan
But how many of each are on the road today? Total numbers? 'Vettes of any kind vs. Datsun/Nissan Zs of any kind? You say popularity. If the numbers denote popularity it would obviously favor the 'Vette. I don't need to see a list of unsubstatiated numbers. Like I said, lies, damn lies, and stastistics. Any other judging criteria is just opinion. Like this quote: I guess then we'd have to define your use of the word 'real' since the rest of the sentence would be blatently false without a broad and obviously biased personal definition of that word. You speak of the 240Z, 260Z, and 280Z in one sense and the entire Z production in another. You speak of sports cars vs. performance sedans. You speak of the definition of a sports car. You say a sports car should 'appeal to the pocketbook'. What is the point you attemting to make with this thread? (Too bad we don't have the 'willy-nilly' smile icon on this site). And either that's an S130, not a Z31, in 1982 or you've got the wrong year.

Difference between a Sportscar and a Performance Sedan
I have that video but even if I didn't, I wouldn't suffer through wactching it in segments on YouTube. Show me the part where it says that the Z has outsold the Corvette, I must have missed that. I still think that a vehicle that was produced from the 1953 model year to the present would have outsold one that was produced from the 1970 model year to the 1996 model year plus the 2002 model year to the present. Lies, damn lies and statistics, as they say but still, show me.

Difference between a Sportscar and a Performance Sedan
I'd have to disagree on the ""most popular sportscar in the U.S.A" statement as much as I like the Z. What would that be in terms of; sales?

My new 280z
I'm glad you didn't take that as a 'know-it-all' type statement because I surely didn't mean it that way. These Nissan injectors are fairly loud IMO plus they're uncovered. I guess I just got used to the sound when I had my 280Z and my 810. If there wasn't much ambient noise around the car, yes, I could hear them even when driving. Not so much on other cars, like my GTO, because the injectors are partially covered by the fuel rail covers, etc. I never really noticed if the sound got louder as the RPM increased. I guess I just didn't pay that much attention to the injectors at that point.

My new 280z
You do know that the injectors themselves make a ticking noise as they open and close, right?

HLS30-OOO13 Has Been Found!
Evidentally, judging from this very interesting but not at all conclusive thread, that would depend entirely on who is telling the story.

Most beautiful car in Finland...
Interesting that in Finland, 6 of the top 10 most beautiful cars would be American. Though I don't know what a Pyhimysvolvo is, the 240Z would top that list, in my mind. I guess location is everything. With no mention of Ferraris, Jaguars, Porsches, Lambos, etc, my order would be a little different: 1. Datsun 240Z -72 2. Corvette Sting Ray -63 3. Plymouth Cuda -71 4 Ford Mustang Convertible -67 5. Buick Riviera GS -73 6. Cadillac Coupe -59 7. T-Ford -26 8. BMW 328 Sparro 9. Volkswagen Kupla 10. Pyhimysvolvo

Buying A 78Z
Amazing that you can determine my intent by simply reading my typed words. What didn't you get or what was it that was unclear? If you plan to legally drive it on the streets it has to be smogged, if not you'll have to pay the no-op fees to prevent paying penalities when and if you plan to legally put it on the street.

Pics of my new Brittny 1978 280Z
My 78 had all the paperwork including the warranty and service booklet, guarantee card, etc. everything that came with it new. Most Datsuns came with all of that including your 77. I don't know how far back but I seem to remember getting all of that with my 70 and my 72.

I am thinking of bidding on this car
1975 and earlier do no have to be smogged in Cali. The resreve $6400. Do you guys think a 73 in this condition is worth that? In the sellers own words it "did not meet reserve first time".

I am thinking of bidding on this car
That could be what he actually meant.

Hagerty's Collector Car magazine has a 240Z in it
What 80's Cadillac can be insured by Hagerty? I just recently found out that they also do special interest cars and 'modern classics' such as the newer 'vettes, 04-06 Pontiac GTOs, Cadillac CTS-Vs, some of the late model Mustangs, etc. I was with Hagerty for 12 years with my 78 280Z and 64 320 pickup. I plan to insure my GTO through them as soon as I get another car that I can insure through a regular carrier which is one of their requirements.

Upgrade from fusible links to circuit breakers
I sold it, end of May this year. In fact, I sold all three of my Datsuns and bought a 2005 Pontiac GTO.
