WHat are you going to do to benefit from the "Cash for Clunkers" program
And it's not like they had to come up with a new product. This stuff has been in use for years and years for fire protection, as a general purpose cement/adhesive, concrete/masonary treatment, food preservation, metal repair, etc.

I'm the one that said something like 'having the engine sanded'. Whatever they use, it renders the engine useless.

IMO the C4C program isn't for people who have money and 850 credit scores. Why would someone in that catagory need that kind of help for the government? They likely got there by not looking for 'help' or any kind of bailout from the govt.

New Hot Wheels 240Z
I hadn't thought much about these until the other day when I saw this Hot Wheels 'Datsun Bluebird 510' in gold at the local Target store.

Does anyone have Reddat's Phone #?!!
Reddat is an eBay seller. I won't do business with after a couple of transactions a few years back. I didn't like how he handled his shipping charges. But, like I said, that was a few years ago.

please help !!!!!!!!!!
Pull the vacuum hose from the brake booster and pour the seafoam into that hose and run the engine. That's how I used to do it when I had my Z and 810.

I've recently talked a couple of friends and a family member out of doing just that.

Yes it would and in that sense how would that be 'slimy'? As long as the dealer didn't get the money from the gov't and didn't turn the car in as a 'clunker'.

That's what he said. I've known this guy for some time and have no reason to doubt what he told me. I did say 'many' of the cars. Perhaps the word should have been "some'. The couple of cars he pointed out looked pretty clean. On your other point: Isn't the car "sold" to the Government the minute it's turned in as a clunker? Meaning that at that point the dealer doesn't have any choice in the matter regardless of what the vehicle is worth. Other that shipping it off to have it's engine sanded, it's qualifying parts sold and the rest of it crushed within a 180 day timeframe.

WHat are you going to do to benefit from the "Cash for Clunkers" program
People are getting sucked in by all of this. The guy I talked to at Midnight Auto Recylers said that many of the cars he's taken in are actually in good enough condition to sell for as much as $9000 but, rather than taking the time to sell the car themselves, people are aparently settling for the $4500 govt. rebate.

From what I was told, they have 180 days from the time they take posession of each vehicle to sell the parts that they are allowed to sell. Once that time has passed they have to be crushed as per the federal guidelines.

2009 International Z Convention-San Antonio, TX
Florida, yes. Texas, no, depending on what part of Texas. Crossing Texas can take an entire day.

2009 International Z Convention-San Antonio, TX
Er, I guess.... Let's see, a weekend to get there, a week of convention activities, a weekend for the car show, another week of convention activities, followed by a weekend to get home...I don't know. I got 5 weeks paid vacation for the last 7 1/2 years I worked.

Wouldn't that thread have been about last years' convention in Cleveland?

Unknown Misc Parts - What Are They?
I don't think so. Those are shaped a little differently and have mounting holes at each end.

oil: not a debate please.
That would be an old school SBC. I run 5W-30 in my LS2.

I came across this zinc additive on one of the Pontiac websites: http://www.tinindianperformance.com/ZddPlus.htm

Unknown Misc Parts - What Are They?
The top left looks like and EGR gasket/spacer, top right looks like a rear view mount. Don't know what the bottom one is or what any of them are from.

The State of Things....
I think I can help you there. If your connector is still there but just damaged I have replacements that can be soldered on. There from either a Volvo, Mercedes, or BMW I forget which. They have the quick release spring clip, the boot and can be easily soldered on. If you don't see this I'll call you. No, that would be this:)......

ECU Swap question`
From my experience, you can use the 75-76-77 interchangably but since the 78 doesn't use contacts in the AFM to operate the fuel pump it stands alone. Also you can use an MT ECU in an AT car but not the other way around because the AT ECU is missing pins #20 and #21.

280ZXR questions
The 280ZXR was built by Nissan to homologate the rear wing for racing. There was only 1000 of them produced because that's what it took to homologate the wing. To me, they're really nothing special but others will say different. But then I don't think the 10th anniversary ZX, or the ZZZap or BPE 280Zs are either. Trim package editions without any kind of mechanical/performance differences never impressed me whether they are Datsun/Nissans or any other marque. Those decals would be vitrually impossible to source today.

New to me 240z
For a daily driver I'd say either engine will do but lose the aluminum flywheel and the 4.56s.

The feel of S30 power brakes?
You should notice a difference. For whatever reason you're not getting proper assist. I would just be guessing as to why.

5th Annual Japanese Classic Car Show
I'll be there but unfortunately I'll have to be a spectator this year. I've attented all 4 of the previous shows but presently do not own a Japanese classic car. Hopefully that will change before next years' show.

Emmissions stickers
Is there a cutoff year in Ohio? In California 1976 and newer have to be tested. When I had my Z and 810, I used a Gunson Gastester Digital which is an exhaust analyser (love that British spelling), to test and adjust mine before each bi annual emissions test. Neither car ever failed during my ownership.
