  1. factory fusible links carry amperage ratings ...green was 40 amps and black was 80 amps ... But everywhere else goes by gauge and from my research black fusible link should be approx 16 ga and the green link should be approx 20 ga
  2. ok i will ...when i callled the parts store they just asked what gauge ......i need an 80amp and a 40 amp im pretty sure 80 for alternator and 40 for ignition ...if theres no ratings on these kits at the store i might hold off .....some parts guys dont even know what fusible links are
  3. got it thanks....my local bensons has a kit ....I for some reason trust the fuse more but if this is the proper part I will go ahead and install it
  4. ^^ ok well is a fusible link a special wire ? or can i just get the same gauge wire and put to connections on it and voila new fusible link ?
  5. Then I either have 2 problems and I just found one of them or ghosts ...
  6. That's how the PO had it ....it's a 30 amp fuse
  7. Ok so it turns out it was a fuse in my fusible link box this whole time .... now to figure out whats melting this guy....ive started by buying a new fuse holder and fuse and see how quickly it happens again ....im wondering if its the new starter i put in ...because thats the only change ive made along with a new coil .
  8. Thats a helpful write up ...thanks.
  9. maybe cleaning the bolts up real good will help because i forgot to mention that my battery cables are brand new as well
  10. ok does it make a difference what bolt im putting that ground on i have it on the bottom bolt ?
  11. So by ground do you mean the negative battery terminal wire coming from the bottom starter bolt to the negative battery terminal ?.....No this did not happen before i changed everything. Thanks Rob
  12. OK guys I have a strange issue ....i have a late year 1974 datsun 260z ....its got new wires cap rotor...new starter and battery...and new coil.
