new guy here. so i have the interior of my 72 z gutted and have been replacing the floor pans. i got to looking at the firewall insulation/sound deadener which is in pretty bad shape, wondering where to get a replacement. then it hit me. im kneeling on it. while ive been laying on the concrete floor welding floor pans, im laying on that cheap, foam rubber floor matting. i got 4 24x24" pieces today at lowes for $20. this stuff is very easy to cut with a utility knife and fairly soft. here are the pics

well thanks to you all. i finally figured this out. the door tag, (which i thought was rivited on) was actually held on with screws which had been covered with some kind of epoxy. if any of you has the car to which these tags belong, let me know and ill send them to you.

the title says 1972, but the door post tag says 5/73. i was thinking of bringing up these discrepencies (sp?) with the dmv, but i think that would just bite me in the backside. thanks all sb

here is a pic of the firewall. the tag on the doorpost has a totally different number and is 6 digits as far as i can tell, the paint on the inside and engine side of the firewall match, as well as in the spare tire well and under the windshield seal. so the firewall replacment doesnt make sense. does anyone have a pic of the fasteners that hold the doorpost tag on? id like to see if mine are the same. thanks all sb

hello all, new guy here. i just bought a 73 240z. it has a vin # (hls30xxxxx 5 digits) stamped in the firewall which matches the title papers. there is a plate on the left door post which has a different vin number (hls30xxxxxx 6digits) which also matches the tag on the shock tower. the tag on the dash is gone which isnt a big deal according to the dmv. so my question is, which is the correct vin #? is this common or has the tag on the door post been swapped? thanks all sb
