  1. the small hole in the thermostat helps to bleed the air out of the system when the stat is cold/closed. a 1/8" hole in it does the job just fine
  2. thats why i put the sensor in the lower hose. if the water going in to the engine is too hot, for whatever reason, i want the fans on.
  3. let me re-phrase that. it will narrow down the build date.
  4. look on the firewall above the brake booster. the serial # will be stamped there. the serial # will tell you the build date
  5. mine is in the lower hose. the water going into the engine is what counts
  6. i played with mine for a couple of afternoons and couldn't get everything to line up right. right now it is close enough for the girls i go out with. you can drive yourself crazy
  7. did you measure the pistons and bores? maybe someone bored-honed the cylinders without replacing the pistons, which would result in blow-by past the pistons. just an idea
  8. sounds like maybe a slightly warped valve, or maybe something embedded in the seat. is the rocker too tight not letting the valve close all the way?
  9. what makes you think something is wrong? dont get me wrong, you can waste all the money you want chasing a problem that doesnt exist
  10. +1 you can also get it in a tub. i use an acid brush to apply it
  11. and, the engine oil is only going to get as cool as the coolant in the radiator.
  12. sorry site, i havent logged on in a few days. thanks for the pics! yes, put your carb back on
  13. this crap just wont go away. this mountain is may 1/2 mile away
  14. it is totally dead. i used 3 cans of spray on it yesterday, and 1 on it today to get the remaining hornets. if i had to guess, i would say there might be 100-150 adults in that nest based on what i saw going in and out.
  15. +1 when you are done let us know what extras you have
  16. im not very familiar with the early stuff so i cant say. the dash tag matches the firewall and door tag. this guy has so many parts i dont think he can keep track, or if he even cares.
  17. mission complete only about 12-14 inches long
