  1. from experience, 95% of the outcome is in the prep work.
  2. excellent idea! take that idea 1 step forward, any reason something like the heater control cables wouldnt work?
  3. JLPercell, i am having issues getting the fenders to align with the doors, and the hood to align with the fenders. any advice or tips? did you get any pics? thanks
  4. iirc, on a normal, stock, fresh engine, vacuum should be a steady 21" +/- at idle
  5. fwiw, vacuum is measured in inches and microns
  6. but, the guy who bought it may have just been told its for a z. without test fitting it. heck, it might be for a geo metro, there is a plethora of high-performance parts for geo's out there
  7. the carpet quality is not that great. i glued it on the rear strut towers and below the doors. it wont come off without destroying the carpet, so if you do use this kit, take your time and double check everything before gluing in place. i bought some carpet from a local shop to finish under the seats and up the firewall. that carpet is much higher quality, hind-site, i probably would have paid the extra to have the local guy make the stuff for me
  8. in addition to sites advice make sure all the solid lines coming out of the tank are clear of rust. the main fuel line on my tank was 90% plugged. i used a short piece of 1/8" aircraft cable chucked up in a cordless drill to clear the crap out
  9. there are substitutes for r-12 that work just fine, no need to convert to 134a. its on its way out the door anyhow
  10. wheee, overall the kit worked out well and is the only kit available that is cut pile and covers the entire interior. i dont care for the vinyl. the material is kind of on the cheap side, though. the front floor and rear cargo floor parts are bound on the edges and have padding on them. the parts that arent bound tend to unravel if you pull on a loose string. if i had known that before i bought the kit, i probably would have done things differently.
  11. here is the plastic trim that came from msa. each piece needed some trimming to fit correctly, but once the trimming was done, everything fit nicely before after square plug, round hole? trimming tool carpet, seats and console in. i ordered door panels from z car depot, hope they get here next week i ended up cutting 1 1/4" off the shifter, much better feel!
  12. iirc, the 3 ohm coil does not use a ballast resistor
  13. ive searched and looked, but i cant find it. my doors wont close with the new seals on i think i bought the msa kit, but im not sure
  14. one thing about having someone install, if there is a water leak, or it breaks, its on them to fix it
  15. my 2 cents. have a glass guy do the install. it isnt that expensive. i had novus glass do mine. he had all the right tools and it took still took him about an hour without the dash in the car.
  16. a little more progress. sealed all the holes in the doors. i used flextape https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0xzN6FM5x_E very sticky stuff! another tire shot and the carpet installed. i need to buy a few small pieces to fill in under the seats and up the firewall, but overall, the kit i bought fit nicely. very little trimming, and plenty of over-lap. plastic trim and weatherstripping goes in this weekend. a question: do all the shifters sit so high? im thinking of cutting a couple of inches off
  17. i use sockets to punch holes. pretty much unlimited selection of sizes
  18. i may have some issues, time will tell
