  1. first off, i would like to thank you all for the help. the problem is solved!!!!!!!!! it turns out the plugs i put in (NGK BPR6EGP) are designed for a high energy ignition. they have a very fine pointed center wire. basically, the pertronix and flame thrower dont put out enough energy to fire these plugs consistently. i switched to the NGK BPR6ES-11, and i have fire in every hole and the back fire is gone. something so simple............

  6. the distributor feels tight, no wobble that i can feel. im running pertronix ignition, so no points. i have turned the magnets several times with no difference
  7. the car is running now. i have put my timing light on every wire, and the light will work on all but # 1 & 3. i have switched wires around but no difference. new cap and rotor, no difference. i tried pulling #1 wire off the plug, and get a great spark to ground. im going to try new plugs tomorrow, any recommendations? thanks all sb
  8. added a little "punch" yesterday. this is just the fitting and testing since i dont have carpet yet. sounds good so far, but i think it will sound even better with the entire interior in
  9. Granny, i test-fit a couple of them and they seem to fit well. i think i need the carpet kit in before installing the plastic. i will post as i get everything installed.
  10. not much going on, waiting on parts. got the rear glass tinted and installed, along with the stainless trim and rear spoiler. the spoiler was a bit of a challenge. the side that contacts the deck is not flat, so with only 2 mounting bolts, it would rock back and forth. i solved that by applying a few dime sized spots of body seam-sealer and actually glued the spoiler to the hatch. no movement at all now, and any water can flow out under the spoiler and hatch ordered a carpet kit from z specialties, and have a few more items coming from msa, then i should have everything for the interior. also got the speakers and amp from crutchfield yesterday. life is good i also found a distributor cap with brass terminals at napa
  11. +1!!! same here. mine is very close, but i still plan on taking it to a shop and having them do the final adjustments
  12. i have narrowed my problem down to 2 cylinders mis-firing which Zed led me to.
  13. i finally got it where it is supposed to be, and it fired right up. line up the marks as shown, turn the shaft a little clockwise?, then push it up in there. tighten one bolt finger tight and the take a look. it may take a few tries (you will be an expert shortly) but it will eventually go. very aggravating
  14. my 2 cents is the foam tapes will hold water. i would use rubber. i have used bicycle tire inner tubes for things like this, cheap and you can cut it to fit
  15. i agree. the muffler should tuck up in there so nice you cant see it from the rear of the car
  16. why would the choke light hook up to the seatbelt? think about it

  18. today i ordered 2 caps and 2 rotors from napa, that are supposed to have the brass terminals. we shall see. update to follow...........
  19. rear glass tinted and installed. now i can move on to the interior since i can keep the dust out now with all the glass in. bunch of goodies from msa should be here tomorrow

  21. from pakistan with love. ordered these seat covers from interior innovations last sunday. showed up today. my first impression is very good, but i will follow up when i get them installed. it is amazing to me that i can order a part, it gets delivered to my door from halfway around the world, nice quality, but it takes twice as long to get something from somewhere i can drive to in a day.
  22. to follow up. the "baby doll" is now idling good with the timing at +/- 13* the popping is now intermittent, which i think is from mis-fire on # 1 & 3 plugs. putting the timing light on one wire at a time shows a consistent spark on all but those 2. that narrows it down to cap, rotor and wires. i have a new set of wires, so i think it has to be the cap and/or rotor i would like to thank all of you for the advice and help.
  23. i have moved up to frustrated!! Mike, i re-positioned the shaft and the pig fired up! i did that a few times with no success, but for some reason it worked this time. Zed, i found that #1 & #3 are hit and miss. i put my timing light on each wire and those two would not trigger the timing light. i think the next step is another new cap and rotor. does nissan still sell them? or is there a good aftermarket brand? napa maybe? thanks to you all
