  1. today was a great day to be sweaty!! msa exhaust came yesterday. got the header wrapped and the rest of it installed today. this is just the basic system and everything fit just like it should. here is a pic with the O2 bungs and pcv bung welded in header wrapped and intake installed carbs and air cleaners on. all im waiting on is lash pads and it'll be ready to fire up
  2. got the heater plumbing done yesterday, and the exhaust system arrived.
  3. is that the entire panel or just a skin?
  4. if you look at the vent emblems behind the side windows, it looks as if they painted them to hide the pitting. i think the winning bidder may be a bit disappointed after a close-up look
  5. dont wizz them off, invite them over for a beer and a listen!
  6. ok, so i ordered these https://www.summitracing.com/parts/hrs-96230-15/overview/ for shimming the outer valve springs, schneider doesnt give a spec on the inners, so i didnt touch them. i ordered 2 packs of .030 and 2 packs of .015. they worked wonderfully. the inside diameter is a bit bigger than factory, but very close. with these 2 sizes i was able to get my springs within .009 of specs i still have quite a few if some one needs some
  7. its been a good week to be sweaty! valve spring shims came in yesterday, and i got all the springs within .009 of the specs. so with that done........... the head is finally on the block. i ordered lash caps today, and should have the exhaust system done this week end. hoping for a start-up by the following week-end. i cant wait to hear that camshaft
  8. my 2 cents. i think the seam sealer is the better of the 2. it will flex with the metal as where the fiberglass wont. if the metal moves at all, the fiberglass will eventually seperate from the metal and allow water in.
  9. i think you will find that body and paint is going to be a B-itch, unless you have a pro do it for you (BIG $$$). i have found that i personally can not do perfect work. i possibly could, but i would spend the next 3-4 years getting there, and drive myself insane in the process. so, there is a point where you say "i can live with that". my paint has flaws, many of them may never be seem by your average guy. but, i know where they are, and i can live with them a very good site to learn is here http://www.autobody101.com/forums/
  10. site, i got your pm. thanks for all the help!
  11. you might try some leak detector dye and a black light bulb. it will show you exactly where the leak is
  12. Warm weather is coming so ive been concentrating on paint before the bugs come back. As of today, all i have left to paint is the cowl and air dam. Ordered a MSA exhaust system today, hoping to have the pig running by the end of next week. Im waiting to put the front end on until the engine is done so i dont scratch the fenders. Here are a few pics lf fender rf fender inspection covers and gas filler headlight scoops also got the passenger side door (3rd one) painted and hung today. it lines up very nice. glass will go in tomorrow and the rear hatch installed
  13. here are some that are the closest i could find as far as id and od. these should work fine for setting spring height. the od is a little small, but the id is very close. all the others i looked at would need the id enlarged to fit https://www.summitracing.com/parts/hrs-96230-15/overview/
  14. ok, i measured the factory shims. 1.534" od and .994" id, so those listed above wont work. metric equivalent is 39od 25id and 1mm thick
  15. do you have a link? im not finding anything
  16. i bought these from msa. these are new factory springs and retainers, never used. i paid $150 +/- asking $125 shipped priority mail in the lower 48
  17. Mike, thank you i am thinking these may work. converting to inches 35mm =1.37mm and 15mm = .59 http://www.jegs.com/i/COMP-Cams/249/4754/10002/-1 these are 1.437 od and .645 id which is close enough that they may work. ill pull a shim out tomorrow and verify the measurements just to be sure. 48 shims for $22 is almost cheap enough to take a chance
  18. does anyone know where to get them? or, the od and id measurements? thanks all sb
  19. i used heat-shrink tubing. doesnt look factory, but it works
  20. i dont have a picture, but i used heat-shrink tubing. it doesnt look factory, but it serves the purpose.
  21. a buddy of mine picked this up for a song, but we cant figure out what it is out of. any ideas? thanks all sb
  22. stalls are way too small. that is a door-ding waiting to happen. way, way too small if you are going to do any actual work on the car. one other thing, i dont see the mach 5
