  1. that valve stem looks like it has a shiny spot on it. it it was bent it would cause that damage since where it broke is the weakest point
  2. always do your longest cut first, shortest cut last. that rule pertains to almost anything from framing to brake lines
  3. did you get the complete set of d caps?
  4. thinking out loud here. any way of getting starting fluid into #1 & #6, closing the valves and igniting it? a few head bolts threaded in halfway to keep the head in the immediate area, might be enough pop to break it loose. what about air pressure in those cylinders while driving wedges in?
  5. i found on my tank, the tube that the fuel pump hooks to was about 95% plugged with rust. i would bet between that and your fuel line, thats your problem
  6. you might try a local parts store. you might find a cap off another model with a gasket that works
  7. thank you. i had no idea it was there. but i see it now.
  8. its not a PITA, just noticeable. pretty low on the priority list
  9. im still debating the strut bar. i do like this one https://technotoytuning.com/nissan/240z/front-strut-tower-brace-datsun-240z-260z-280z-0 https://technotoytuning.com/nissan/240z/z-front-tri-bar-add
  10. that doesnt look bad at all. i think you scored
  11. just went into town to fill the tank and did another 35 miles. this pig pulls hard and nice. a/f mix is in the mid to high 13's on a hard 2nd-3rd pull, cruises in the low 14's. seems to have a weak spot right off idle, (a/f mix 15-16) no bog, but just noticeable. needs a front end alignment and the exhaust piping tweaked a bit and welded. it sounds SWEET! no tire rub as of yet. i was a little worried about that. overall, im very happy
  12. i used this on rubber parts with great results https://www.berrymanproducts.com/products/eco-friendly-products/berryman-chem-dip-carburetor-and-parts-cleaner/ it says that it is safe for plastics. i would try it on something that you can spare first
  13. excellent day today, cherry popped! the pig got a bath and 8 miles on the odometer. the suspension is very nice and tight, throttle response is good, but the brake prop valve needs a little tuning. going to do a few more miles tomorrow, get some fuel and then sunday plug in the tracking software for the a/f ratio meter. kind of hard to watch the meter and drive at the same time
  14. my new foams from msa are firm but comfortable
  15. no, the sticker said 1/8", but the actual board was almost 1/4"
  16. if both keys fit into the locks and ignition, you can have one or the other re-keyed so one key fits both. i would have the door locks re-done since the ignition switch is new. not very expensive either
  17. i tried there and slum depot. they called it 1/8", even the sticker on it said 1/8", but it measured way thicker
  18. im wondering if maybe the tape is to keep metal particles from building up on the magnets, not to hold them in. just an idea
  19. the one that came with my car is around 1/8". cant find hard-board that thin so i ended up sanding it down to about 3/16" if it is too thick, i dont know if the plastic rivets will hold it in place
