Now, before I start taking anything apart, I'd like to ask for advice. Should I pull the engine out and everything in the engine bay first? Also, once I get around to body work and all should I pull all the panels off? The only reason I question doing this is because the fit it quite good on a few panels. However, I know that to do it properly I should pull everything.
  2. Great build thread, man! I will be starting on my 1971 on Monday but working on a poor man's budget. Your thread gets me really excited!! Keep it up!

I really appreciate all of the advice! You guys are awesome! I have a build thread for my 2001 Jeep Cherokee on Jeep Forum. That place and the people are extremely helpful, and this forum reminds me of that already! I will definitely keep a build thread going!

I will look all that up, thank you! Yes, I do believe the original color was #919 yellow, but I really do not want a yellow car. I will most likely paint it a silver or graphite color!

Where do you guys recommend getting replacement panels from? Rustrepair.com or thezstore.com? Looks like my mechanic friend who rents out a portion of my Papa's shop has a MIG welder and is willing to teach me some and let me use it! Ahh, I cannot wait!!!

It is pretty nice, except for the cracks on the top. Yeah, I thought that was funny! I'll definitely have to check out the gas tank. I'm extremely anxious to get it, clean it and then examine it thoroughly!

Thank you! See, it's the learning process that I actually really look forward to! I'm going to take one step at a time and do the best possible job that I can! I want the end project to be a properly restored 240Z.

Hey guys, my name is Collin and I am a 22 year old new 240Z owner! This is an absolute dream car for me, and I never thought that I'd own one this early in life, but my grandfather found an incredible deal on two that I could not pass up! One is a 1972, that'll be used for parts, and the other is a 1971, which is pictured, that'll be restored. I got all of this for $500!!! The guy has already rebuilt the carbs and done a few other things, which is awesome! I have two hoods and tons of parts and will be picking everything up on Monday! The 1971 has a few pretty bad rot spots, but that is to be expected. For the price, I am absolutely thrilled!!! My goal is to deal with all the rust and rot and sort out all the mechanical bits in one year. The biggest thing I will have to start learning is how to weld. I started learning TIG when I apprenticed at a classic car restoration shop a good while back, but I hear MIG is easier. It really all depends on what I can get my hands on. I am just dying to get started on this, working and learning as I go! I look forward to sharing what I do and also asking questions, on what seems to be a great forum!
