Help please. I have a 72 and it just started making a strange sound when i turn the wheel at a stand still. I seems to be coming from the front end somewhere near the wheel. It kinda sounds like rubber rubbing, almost like when you turn a wheel on a painted surface or in a parking structure. Thanks for any help.

I've got a XR 700 on my Z. Don't have a way to post the wiring diagram though. I don't recall seeing a purple wire either, you may have an older version. Send me a PM and maybe we can meet up so you can sheck it out.

As far as security goes, a simple hidden switch to an electric fuel pump or electronic ignition works well. There are two different types of LoJack systems. One is passive until it is armed by LoJack when the car is stolen, and another uses a key fob. If the car is moved without the key fob in the vehicle, LoJack will contact you at a designated number to make sure that the moving of the car is authorized. There is also Teletrac which is like big brother and can locate your car at any given time in the day. Actually I just found out that if you subscribe to Teletrac they have a automated phone system that you can call 24 hours a day to find out exactly where your car is. Scary!

I can't say that I've tried any of the above options, but I have a couple more to add to your list of things to try. Check your rear hatch rubber seals and the rubber seals on the tail light assembly.
  5. I could go on and on about cars that I love, there's just too many, but cars that I will own one day besides my '72 240 and '02 SE-R Spec V are a Datsun roadster and 510.

Sorry it took a while to reply, but as Ben says, the HI6 will run an engine with any ignition, but they recommend EI. It ends up running in connection with the EI. The 700 does the optical pickup and tells the HI6 when to trigger, and the HI6 triggers the coil. Hope this helps even if it's late.

I just installed a Crane 700, and a lx coil. It basically justs replaces the points with an optical pickup. I have a HI6 but it's not in yet. I haven't had any problems yet, but it's still very new. It does rev a lot nicer now though. If I run into any problems I'll post them.

Kind of off the subject, but Jones Soda Company bottle labels use customer pictures and they had a short run of a lemonade that had the rear pillar vent of a 72-73 240
  9. My first love was my father's 1972 240Z bought in 1976, the year I was born. My father took my mother to the hospital to deliver in his Z and I was almost born on the passenger seat. So I've loved Z's my whole life. I bought my own about 8 years ago, a 72 240, and I am still working on bringing up to it's potential beauty. My father still has his and now we have matching Z's.

Sorry I didn't know where to post this so I put it here. Has anyone ever gotten any work done by Wolf Creek Racing? I am considering some carb work with them and would like to hear about anyone's personal experience with them Your feed back is greatly appreciated.

Motorsports Auto in Orange CA has that body kit. I think they have pictures of the front on their website. www.zcarparts.com

The arm on the 4-speed should have a return spring on it that I don't think the 5-speed has. Unless you changed the slave cylinder along with the trans you may want to keep the one with the return spring. As far as the bearing and collar, I think it depends on the type of clutch you are using, but I'm not sure. I do know that the imput shaft for a 5-speed is longer than the 4-speed so you usually need the longer collar. Hope this helps some.
  13. Read the thread, they were asking why Nissan never sold the Skyline in America before.
  14. If Nissan were to bring a car into the US, do you really think that they would leave it right hand drive? Have you ever seen a manufacturer leave a car right hand drive when they start building it for the US? Then wouldn't you think that they would do it for a Skyline too? Which would create a problem it the turbos are on the left-side. Think about it. Not everyone drives on the right side of the car, and we were talking about US.
  15. One reason Nissan couldn't bring the Skyline is that the steering column gets in the way of the twin turbos. I also heard that they did not want to crach test and bring it up to US safety standards.

How many miles? Does it run well enough to drive back to Los Angeles? If so I might be interested and I'm willing to drive down and pick it up.

I have the H4 conversion from MSA. I believe that they have three different types. I have the non-DOT approved set with the pre-mounted city-light bulb. I'm pretty sure they came with a 55w/45w bulb, and the guy at MSA suggested that I didn't run anything higher. They are a lot brighter than the original still.

How many miles on the carbs?
  19. SER240Z posted a post in a topic in Carburetor Central
Ok, my carbs say Solex Japan on the top. I guess they are Mikunis, so now how or where do I get parts for these. I don't know what mesurements I need. Please help. What are ADDHE and how do I tell?

No, I'm actually missing inner and outer venturis for one carb and inners for another. Other than that, they're complete. I believe they are just Solex carbs. I don't really know how to tell the difference though. They have on center crew on top, but they look exactly like Mikunis. I don't know if that helps any.

I have a set of solex 44's that are missing a few pieces. I've tried contacting a few places and they all say that solex parts and mikuni parts are not interchangable. Has anyone else run into this problem? I am aslo still looking for these parts if someone knows where I can get them. Thanks for your help.
