Info on BCDD - Boost Controlled Deceleration Device
Ok, so now I really tore into it... Here is the external housing... Here is the "altitude corrector" (Capt Obvious... a hermetically sealed air chamber that acts as a little barometer and compensates for changes in atmospheric pressure.) On the coil end of the altitude corrector is a dowel, which had fallen out, thankfully I found it and returned it to its proper location. On the receiving end is another diaphragm in which the altitude corrector dowel fits into... If you flip it over, there is the valve that is adjusted... More to come...

Info on BCDD - Boost Controlled Deceleration Device
One of the questions I have for everyone, is should I assemble this dry? There was some oil, grit and grime in the mechanism? and If yes, what should I use? Thank you! ~Matt

Info on BCDD - Boost Controlled Deceleration Device
Howdy folks, I was able to finally track down a BCDD (Boost Controlled Deceleration Device) for my early (9/75) 1976 280Z and wanted to share with the community as well as ask some questions. Here is a picture of the device for an early 76: Note that the altitude corrector is flush to the bottom of the outer housing and is similar in appearance to a set screw. On the side you can see the screw which locks it in place. Note the orientation of the screws, 3 are used to attach the BCDD to the Throttle Body, 3 are used to keep the sections of the BCDD where the diaphragms are together and the last one is just to keep everything aligned. I accidentally took mine apart, but thankfully didn't damage the diaphragms. Here is one of the diaphragms that usually tears. Before cleaning. I am currently cleaning everything and will post additional pictures.

How to identify High / Lo horns on early 76 280Z
Thank you Mark! Currently all the ones I have say 115dB. That came out great, did you use a sand/bead blaster on that? ~Matt

How to identify High / Lo horns on early 76 280Z
Howdy, The original owner of my 76 280Z replaced the drivers side horn with a Sears air-horn. I'd picked up a few horns, before realizing there are differences (more so than just High and Low). That being said I snagged a horn and bracket for an early 280Z while I was down in Carlisle PA at the show. I got it home and started reading the past posts on horn identification. I've been able to find information on how to identify a horn for a 240Z, but nothing for identifying ones for the 280Z. Any help is appreciated. Thanks! ~Matt

Looking for Brake Master Rebuild Kit
I've searched and searched and have been unable to find a Brake Master rebuild kit for my 76 280Z. I checked RockAuto, but they only had one for the 79 which is 15/16". I need the 7/8". Any help is appreciated! Best! ~Matt

Which factory clamps should be used at these locations?
Thank you Sir! I kinda figured that but wanted to double check. I have the heater hose clamps, with the rounded phillips head. Now I just need to locate 6 of these.

Which factory clamps should be used at these locations?
Hey guys, I've been spending some time cleaning up the engine bay (76 280Z), while my radiator is at the shop being repaired. I've replaced a couple EFI clamps and spent time cleaning the ones used for the radiator overflow tank. I've tried searching the net and seeing if I can see whether the locations in the pictures (smaller hoses) are supposed to be wire clamps or EFI style? They are all coolant lines. Any help would be great. Cheers! ~Matt

I've had no luck locating a replacement plastic factory mirror. Is there anyone out there that can repair them? Mine has a quarter sized piece missing from the top. Otherwise it is great shape. ~Matt

Looking to identify original Supplier for Clutch Slave Master and Brake Master Cylinders 1976 280Z
Howdy, Hoping someone can chime in. I read several pages of posts, but was only able to find information about the 240Z cars. I am looking to replace the After Market Clutch and Brake Master Cylinders with factory correct parts for my 76 (9/75) 280Z. I think the clutch slave for my year was manufactured by Nabco Japan? Can anyone help me confirm this? As for the Brake Master Cylinder, is it Tokico or Nabco? I know they used different manufacturers and it is unclear what years the transitions occurred in. Trying to get in the ballpark, so to speak. Any help is appreciated. Thank you! ~MattS

My Oil Pan Replacement Thread - Completed
Howdy folks, I just completed the replacement of the oil pan gasket in my Z. Thanks to all the information posted on this site and on other sites I was able to accomplish this without lifting the engine. I just wanted to point out several things that really helped me out. Loosening the oil pick up tube was a big help. Using sewing thread to aid with keeping the new gasket attached was essential when wiggling the pan into place. The last was a 1/4 drive universal joint. I didn't have it taking the pan off, but I picked it up for putting it back on and it made doing so, so much easier. Cheers! ~MattS

High idle while shifting gears on hot L28 engine
Sounds like the symptoms I have which has to do with the BCDD. To help, I actually took the retaining screw out and squirted in some PB Blaster. Seemed to help for a little while but it is back to acting up. Mine is an early 76 (9/75) so your BCDD might be configured differently than mine.

Can this fuel line be used as part of the EFI Unit?
Here is what I found... Because of location, the hose should be of Type A as that is fire resistant. Type B is meant to be used to connect to the tank, as an example. The search goes on...

Can this fuel line be used as part of the EFI Unit?
I didn't take anything you said as being negative, I would rather have someone tell me if I am purchasing an inferior product. I appreciate you taking the time to research and explain. I'll keep looking and if I find something suitable I will be sure to post it here. Cheers!

Can this fuel line be used as part of the EFI Unit?
@Patcon- Thank you for that info, I am still researching that piece and will post here when I find out @siteunseen - I've noticed that with most things nowadays. If they can do it cheaper they do.

Are rubber steering couplers available?
I thought I was going to be able to provide you with a rubber solution, but it appears that the company I had purchased from has converted to Poly now...

Can this fuel line be used as part of the EFI Unit?
I've been looking to replace the fuel hose(s) in the EFI Unit on my 76 Z. It still has the original braided hose and I wanted to retain the factory look. I located some on a classic Porsche site, that says it can be used for MFI. Thoughts?
