Yesterday I finally decide to replace my alternator I go to get a new one and talkin to the guy he says its the regulator, so I buy the regulator, get gome and start to install it and notice the wires are cut, 2 are bypassed. He had been running it straight with no regulator! So Im thinking mebbe he had replaced the alternator with one with an internal regulator so I take the alternator up and the guy says its correct and we decide to test it. IT WAS PUTTING OUT 30 VOLTS! No wonder it was boiling batteries. Anyways, while takin everything apart I notice that the bottom bolt for the alternator is like 1/16 in diameter so I need to replace it but the thing that bugs me is that whether the car is on or off I stil get a voltage reading inside the car, its not supposed to do that is it?

L28 , fuel injected. Just talked to a friend that works the performance counter at my favorite local parts store (they have a counter for performance only parts) and he basically told me to get a 280z muffler, he says the supertrapp will sound like crap so Im prolly gonna do a universal since oem is 160 bux

at hybridz If anyone gets a chance to look at one of these in person, made by this guy I would appreciate a critique. My interest is very high and I would even pass on my planned paint scheme if I decide to go this route

  15. when I bought my z I was listening to it and told the guy it sounded a little loud up top. The guy said the valves were noisy. After messing with the thing for a while I pulled off the valve cover and one of the rockers on #4 was off as you described, but less noisy. I ended up using an allen wrench to gently push the valve down so I could get the rocker back on. seems to be fine now. Lot less noisy up top too.:cheeky:
  16. soon my z will be as easily damaged in the rear end as yours was. Not being a purist I plan on putting 240 bumbpers on my 280. I used to make that trip every weekend when I was stationed in SD and transferred to Long Beach to see my honey. Then when i was transferred to Coronado I did the reverse to see another one :-) It was amazing, I could kill a 6 pack on the drive (back in my younger days when I drank and drove :-( ):cheeky:

I was thinkin that if someone knew to open the hood to hook up the battery it might be someone close enough to my house that sees me do it every night, mebbe im paranoid as for lights, I have 2 pits and a rott, dont get much better alarms,.I just need to pay more attention when they bark I guess

Went to leave for work this morning and and my hood was open, my battery reconnected ( I disconnect it at night because I have a short killing my battery) and my driver side door open. I had heard the dog barking after midnight and got up looked and went to the bathroom. Must have scared em off. I dont wanna spend the money on an alarm yet!
