So before i got my z i checked all the spots people said to check for rust, I was overjoyed that the car i wanted had great floorpans, a few bubbles on a few body parts, none around the hatch and a spot on a fender where someone put a jack in the wrong place and cracked the paint so it rusted. No biggie. Today Im workin on my car and I see some rust under the battery and knock on it and my hand goes through! I can fix it but man, now i need a donor car :-( will that part match out of a 240 z? I have a 76 280.

While in my continuos parts search the last few weeks I called a local resource for cams and was infornmed that they could make pretty much any cam I want for 50 bucks and a 30 dollar core, these are regrinds but from past experience in chevies they seem to work great and not wear as fast or any faster than a "new" camshaft. If yer lookin for a cam ya might wanna look up delta camshaft in tacoma wa.

A few days ago i went to my favorite auto parts store to replace the distributor for my 76 280 (they got it to me same day! I ordered at 9:30 am and had it by 1:00 pm!) ANyways, I put it in and pop pop stutter yadd ayadda, so im thinkin wtf! It was running better with the old part. I run through everyhting, I bring it up to tdc and confirm #1 and then check my wires, all okay. I short out the thign and reset my timing its okay but when i take off pop pop stutter yadd ayadda. So I start checkin for spark, all good. Then I chek my cylinders, 2 dead!, I have spark, I have fuel everythign was good a few dasy ago, I pull off my valve cover and I have one rocker arm floppin in the breeze and another set where the valve cant close all the way! Now Im trying to figure out how exactly to get the one rocker back in place without takin the tower apart and how to properly adjust these things. Someone said to order the tool and Im thinkin, a screwdriver, feelers and a few wrenches are all ive ever needed before. Is there a tool ? If not where can i git info on the right way to adjust them please?

I had a chance at a 76 280z a few days ago and jumped on it. The guy I bought it from says the last mechanic said it had an air problem, somewhere in the conversation it came up the mechanic said the engine was worn, sounded like timing to me... Anyways, I drive this thing home praying its gonna make it, popping backfiring , yadda yadda. As soon as I get off work yesterday I run home to play with it. First thing I find is brand new plug wires, angle boots on cap but the connectors were straight and 3 werent even close to being in the cap and 2 werent all the way connected at the spark plug end, I was happy as a pig in, well , you know. I thought I was gonna get off easy... I get this thing goin and 3 minutes later its half dead again, I set the timing and by the time i go around the block its out of time, if it stays in time I have to nurse it into the powerband. It gets goin good then bam,.runs like crud again. Am I overlooking somethign? btw, its efi. any ideas would be appreciated. :disappoin
