I got the car back since he wanted the headlight and parking light harnesses upgraded. I got a hold of Dave and got the parking light harness and a 240z headlight harness ordered with enough extra 240 headlight connectors to change the 260z plugs over to 240z plugs. Parking light harness was cake to install. Headlight harness wasn't too bad either, even with installing all new connectors on the headlight sub harnesses!

Sunday evening I took the headlight switch apart and cleaned the contacts as they are blackened. Reinstalled switch onto the steering column and plugged it in an still no parking lights. Headlights still worked though. So back to the wiring diagram. Headed to the parking light fuse. 12V. Check. Now to find the plug under the dash with the wiring, Blue plug with the Green w/ blue wire. Check. continuity to the fuse holder. Check. Continuity to the switch. Check. I plugged it back in and reinserted the fuse. I reached over to the switch and clicked it once to check the parking lights and now everything works!!! I wish I would have known that I would have only had to unplug and reconnect the connector under the dash first and all my diagnostic time would have been spared. Car's got ALL new fluids and that new diff mount is nice! No more clunking when shifting! Got to take it for a nice little test drive to pick up some light bulbs that were blown from napa.

Mouse nest in the tail lights: New fuel filter and hoses: Differential mount was torn and the diff was clunking every time you let off the accelerator: I threw a new set of NGK plugs in. The tach wasn't working. I found the plug for it hanging in behind the dash and got it reconnected. Tach works again! One thing I haven't figured out yet is why none of the parking lights, marker lights, tail lights, or dash lights work. The headlights and high beams work fine though. All the fuses are good. So I'll be working on that next. I've got power incoming to the light switch Via the white/red wire. And the switch powers the red wire with the switch in the headlight position but neither the green/white (which seems to be common color on every parking light bulb) nor the green/blue wire coming off the switch have any voltage. Has anyone taken one of these headlight switches apart and cleaned the contacts?

So a buddy of mine just picked up this '74 260z 2+2 and brought it to me to go over it for him and take care of a list of things that needed some attention. He didn't want a full on restore since this is going to be a gift to his father for Christmas. So if anyone knows this car, please chime in! He picked it up for eBay in Maryland. Supposedly it's been in storage for the last 10 years and has only had 300 miles put on it in the last 10 years. The car only has 16,xxx original miles. I've been wrenching all my life and just moonlight for a hobby now. Here's my personal nissans: my 350z daily and my 240sx toy/project: The 240 is quite fun to drive: But anyway back to the classic!
