Race win in car camera footage, Blackhawk Farms
Re over exposure, camera focusing on the windscreen wiper blade or those vertical bars? Good footage anyway, assume you were not on slicks.

So yeah, the VIN is fake
Ah, I know this person, am not surprised.

Shipping Z Overseas - Advice
The alternative to ro/ro is a container, which can be risky if the car is not tied down properly, more expensive too. Go ro/ro, with the appropriate insurance, my ro/ro Z from Japan arrived safely.

Targa Newfoundland 2009
This targa has some sort of handicap arrangement for the results does'nt it. So the fastest car may not show up as a winner. Pretty strange concept if you don't mind me saying so, seems much more realistic to have various classes according to year model and, perhaps, specification. Then base the results on that without any tweaking. From what I can work out the Millen R35 was the actual fastest car but it did not 'win' the event. Weird.

Datsun Roadster in car Camera at Coronado Speed Festival
Interesting video Ron. A friend of mine races a roadster in historics, he sits a lot lower than you. Any particular reason for the high seat or is that a physical necessity?

280 ZX in STR class
You would need a slicktop for body rigidity, T top would be a disadvantage. Are you allowed to rework the rear suspension angles? While the semi trailing arm rear suspension is now obsolete, with some reworking it can be made to perform well, as Prodrive/BMW found On wheel width, try and go for the widest, 9" should fit, rolling the guard lips will help. Good luck and keep us informed. Love the S130

Targa Tasmania 2009
There is not much more I can add to the Targa wide wheel query but I know at least one future S30 entrant who was knocked back for Targa Tas when he enquired with all the supporting paperwork. No reason apparently given, I guess that noone wants to build a car and then find its not accepted. There is also a dispute in Sc historic where the S30's are restricted to standard width wheels. If I have it right, Porsches are allowed to run wide wheels even though they were an option and not standard. There is no doubt that there is an Eurocentric attitude in some areas of Australian motorsport with the attendant self interest being all important.

Targa Tasmania 2009
Talking with those who are very involved in motorsport at a national level and who have targa experience, the Porsches are allowed to run wider wheels than the S30's even though the S30's have homologation papers for similar wide wheels. The wider wheels are a crucial advantage in a targa event, particularly given the tyre replacement rules. I'm not up with the C3 class rules but basically I've been told by those who should know that a S30 will never beat a Porsche, due to the wheel thing only. On the R35, in the US particularly there seemed to be a campaign to discredit its mechanical integrity. Which is why I made that comment.

1980 C-Prod Runoffs
Just a little bit biased that article, reminds me of the Euro snobs in my country. The simple fact of the matter was that most British cars were incomplete eg they were not a complete package like the S30 was. There was always something that dragged their performance/reliability down, with the E type it may well have been weight. A friend of mine prepares old Euro cars for competition, some of the 'engineering' under the fancy bodywork is rubbish, they often take a lot of work to just get them somewhere near competitive and reliable.

Targa Tasmania 2009
R35 GTR wins this tough endurance event outright, so much for the 'fragile mechanicals' attacks from the badge snobs. Not much scope for the Zeds in this event, see the occasional Z32 while the S30's are too restricted by the rules vis a vis the Porsches to have much of a chance, particularly in Late Classic. There were a couple of S30's entered, one of our Z club members was doing well in Early Classic until damaging a wheel on a rail crossing. Link http://www.sportcom.com.au/targatasmania/ And here is a sample of what it is like, this was a 20th fastest time. Or this one which involves more open country than the one above.

Ira sets new EP track record at VIR
Might add that I sent a copy of the #4 pic (hope that was OK) to some S30 racers in my corner of the world, with the comment that this is how you should look coming out of a corner. I give them a hard time because they are slow learners

Ira sets new EP track record at VIR
Like the way that car sits flat in corners with the wheels vertical and full face tyre contact with the road. Inside wheel lift noted too. Very impressive for a S30. Nearly as impressive as my S130

Info? The #55 red, white, & blue 280Z race car
Wouldn't the 'period correct' question be related to what cars or replicas are catered for in a particular class or race series? Restricted to cars that originally only competed in America or open to cars that also competed elsewhere in the world?

Racing the 260Z 2+2?
Apparently this Z is FIA classified as a Touring Car, different to the two seater. So I'm wondering if anyone has raced one, road course, and if so how it compares with the two seater. With the longer wheelbase I'd assume it would be a bit more stable but, if so, I'm not sure how this would translate into handling characteristics. Perhaps this would be a disadvantage in tight turns but an advantage in long fast turns.

15" Track Wheel Suggestions?
If you are going to use 225 tyres then 8" wide rims are a much better choice, tyres will wear better than they would on sevens for a start.

So whats the general reaction to the 370Z Warren? It's the first new model Zed that has grabbed my attention for a while, mainly in anticipation of its dynamics rather than its looks.

Message to the folks "down under"
^^^ Thats a good suggestion, I'm fairly sure I saw a Z for sale in Cairns recently, listed in Ebay. There would be very few around there, its the tropics, they rust away.
