  1. After almost six months trying, finally managed to get a decent one at a fairly reasonable price in Japan. Should get it in about two months time, I'm excited White colour does not suit, that will go as will the Wats, changing over to five stud. But whats going to happen to avatar car:paranoid:

Great to see someone taking an interest in the 280ZX, nearly all the ones for sale are rusted out neglected junk. Not that I want a 2+2 but a two seater would do nicely
  3. Agree. The big lower white stripe on red with the wheels in Gav's avatar look brilliant. Yet to see an actual car like that too.

A couple of LHD 280Z have been imported for motorsport purposes, there is one for sale on the Gold Coast right now. There is not much of a market for them though. Also there is an age limit on LHD cars that can be driven on the roads here, under the limit and thay have to be converted to RHD. Two seat 280ZX and Z31 were never officially imported here so there could be a small market for them, maybe the solid top version would be more sought after. I've been trying to get a two seat solid top 280ZX for months.
  5. If its got a V8 in it, no

Mosler MT900S at the same place http://www.racinggreenmosler.co.uk/mt900s.asp
  8. Anyone who owns both a S30 and a Scout deserves all they get Sort of like someone with a S30 and a F truck ROFL
  9. Sounds like you need a 4WD, not too sure about the choice of a Scout though.
  10. Can't help you there but its worth while looking for someone who will put the time in to get it right. Because a properly set up R200 diff will be quiet, if they are not properly done then expect noise. I always thought that they were inherantly noisy but thats not so.
  11. Cost is often mentioned as the main reason why the L was not a crossflow but I think that there is another possible explanation. If you look at a RB30 head, which is a single cam two valve design, they are fairly simple too. But I'm not a production engineer or whatever so who knows as to any cost differences between the two. The alternative theory is that the Nissan OHC design was an evolution of the pushrod design common at the time. The L head looks like a pushrod head with some OHC gear tacked on if you get the idea. On the other hand the RB30 head looks like an integrated design, nothing tacked on. Anyway, its a theory but if you look at the history of car design there are lots of examples of evolution in design rather than big steps forward, identifiable in just a few cars such as the VW beetle and the British Mini

Hmmm, thinking counterfeiting could be good. How much is a key making machine?
  13. There are some odd looking parts in that kit, hard to tell what they are. Perhaps the spring support collars are located on the strut tube by grub screws, which would explain what looks like an Allen key in the picture. Bit of a dodgy setup if that is so. Anyway, as has been said, don't touch it. Too many unknowns.
  14. Thanks cremmenga, I've been getting a few like yours too. Good to know for sure that they are fraudulent, I read their whole message right through and noticed some grammatical and spelling errors which put me on guard.

Its always hard to argue in favour of 'speeding', whatever that may involve in a particular context. I'd rather argue that the maximum speed you should be travelling at depends on the circumstances, merely going faster than is usual is not necessarily excessively dangerous. People get killed on the road in all sorts of situations, a lot of which may not be caused by excessive speed at all. There is a certain amount of brainwashing about 'speeding', often to justify revenue raising fines and to distract attention from poor roads. Certainly using a race track is a good idea but there are not many of them around and it can be quite expensive. Driving sensibly within your skill limits is the key, how fast that may be depends on the circumstances.

Was one (or two?) on Ebay a couple of days ago.
  18. Seeing I don't know the size of front bars on US S30's I'll shutup now, except to say that for a stock road S30 it would be no big deal not to have a rear bar, particularly if the front bar is on the small side. EDIT.

Geez, give him a break, the video is for our enjoyment not a critique of his driving. Which looked pretty safe to me anyway. $^!#, I've got some footage of my turbo on the loose through some early morning light urban traffic, plus doing some Sunday morning 'testing' in an industrial estate

Yeh, great sounding engine, an excited passenger there too. Or was that you Dave

The third line on my '77 went forward to a charcoal cannister in the engine bay, part of the anti pollution system. IIRC one of the lines from the cannister went into the inlet manifold somewhere. Think the line came from the fuel vapour 'precipitation' tank mounted inside, near the RH rear quarter panel.

Nice one Rick, check out the old Bluey
  23. Nice video, like the track, effing creeping suburbia caused my favourite to be closed down too. Wondering why it was run clockwise in LHD land.

Congratulations to the winning Z team and to all the Zed teams that finished I'd have thought that the lighter Escorts and rear engined Porsches would have an advantage in that sort of event. Guess that the Datsun is just basically a better designed car :rambo:
