  1. The fastest Z in Oz, eh. That claim could be disputed, there are a few RB26 jobs around for a start, eg from memory Whittaker's car did around 600hp, maybe more now.
  2. Yeh, how does he expect to sell stuff online if you have no idea of what it looks like? :stupid:
  3. Pointless post but in Oz a car like that would go for more and sell quick, the historic scene is big here although more more for the Brit/Euro snob set. Still..............

Yeh, its getting near tyre replacement time again, the Dunlop DO1J's are just about stuffed. V70A's have become available at a good price, significantly cheaper than the Dunlops. The Z does high speed circuit work, usually around 5-7 laps per 'race', called sprints because the start is staggered and times only count. And it gets very hot here in summer so I'm thinking of a medium-hard compound. So it would be good if those of you who have used the V70A's could give their opinion, compared with Toyo and Yokohama R tyres if possible. The tyres will be used for dry circuit work only, they are changed at the track, no wet weather use.

Don't know the answer to your question Steve but its a good point, with two people aboard and a full petrol tank it would likely be signficantly bum heavy. I used to assume that putting the battery etc in the back was a good thing but this is not necessarily so.
  6. Those joints are sort of like off some steering racks too. Good idea. What I would really like is a sealed ball type joint that could be used for the front inner control arm pivot. Something like a rod end that has similar seals to those on tie rod ends. The threaded part of the rod end could be used to adjust camber. I'm not convinced that the urethane ones will go the distance because urethane apparently has a very poor performance in shear.

What month/year is it? There is a period of crossover time during which 240 bodies were fitted with 260 engines and called 260's.

Dunno exactly, I'd guess at least twenty pounds in the old money. But they are good value and readily available.

Thanks for your effort Mr C but I want to replace the present Performance brand mags I already have.
  10. Simon Rhodes makes a very good front strut bar, the Z Car Workshop, Underwood, do/did sell them. Doubt very much that anyone makes a stainless one, the cost would put most people off. Get the mild steel one chrome plated.

Need a set of lightweight four studs, not heavy Performance brand thanks. Preferably 8" but will consider 7 or 71/2".
  12. Bloody pita wheels. What about the early four stud Z31 wheels? Simmons et al are basically custom made and will cost you $5-600 each or more.

Yeh, Jon Siddons is from the Gold Coast but there was another Gold Coast car entered too I think. See the wheels on Siddons' car? 15 x 7" BBS, very light.

It was wet the last day or so, apparently the roads can get very greasy, under the overhanging trees particularly. The red Zed may have been the one from the Gold Coast which had a lot of money spent on it. Not sure though.

Ah, the auto saloon or salon or whatever award says it all. The weirder and more drastic your car looks the better.

Hmmm, he was probably trying to make it look like a Murrican car. Actually what the thing needs is BIG wheels. Yeh, and a change of colour.

Copeland/Siddons are very experienced, Jon Siddons is an excellent circuit racer. That Zed was put together at the last minute too, lets hope it holds together.

Gee, no I was in a generous mood so put your link up. Good photos, love the road one, about 32 Z's there. Biggest Z gathering in the Southern hemisphere ever?

Seems to depend on the person and the incident, in my minimal experience it is a situation like no other, hard to explain. Perhaps because you can feel very physically threatened in an already excited state and then react accordingly.

Damm bad luck Ashley, big hit by the look of it.:disappoin Bloody Porka drivers. I nearly T-boned a WRX the other day, effing wanker passed me in a corner round the outside, lost it and was sliding sideways down the track, smoke pouring off the tyres, right in front of me. Did he cop an earful back in the pits.
  24. Lets hope that the Kiwi's did a great job on the motor. Otherwise we can go over there and pull the plug.
  25. Pretty sure that there would be no body kits in Oz for a 280ZX. You could bring one in from the US but the packing and freight costs alone would be horrendous. Pity because places like MSA have some great Z stuff although even they may not have a lot for the ZX.
