Front Air Dams?
Need a new one soon, which of the following ones from the MSA web site are available in Oz and where? This info should be a useful reference for others as well. http://www.zcarparts.com/store/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=50-1501&Category_Code=7AP http://www.zcarparts.com/store/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=50-1409&Category_Code=7AD2

They are RB20DET boxes DM, unfortunately for you. Good strong box though not as tough as the bigger 25 box. How was your freight organised BTW, got a name for me? Really do love your engine, drool, yumm.:cheeky:

April Fool?
As a footnote, the 2003 East African Safari was won by an ex Australian 240Z driven by Collinge and Levitan. Over Porsche 911's, Ford BDA Cosworth Escorts, etc by 47 minutes and 55 seconds. Go you good things.

Wheels and Grooved Slick Tyres Wanted Brisbane
Just great, got a bloody self tapping screw right through one of the Dunlop DO1-J sprint tyres, lucky it didn't deflate at high speed I suppose. So Now I have three 205/55R15, SPS compound, tyres. Don't want to buy a new one because the next set will be different. So, anyone got one grooved slick tyre in that size for sale, a different make might be ok. Also looking for a set of 15 x 8" wheels for the 260. My email is r_greenup@yahoo.com

carpet kit and new hood lining, anyone tried any?
Mine was bought several years ago from a Sydney Z place, can't remember the name. Not too bad but not that great either. If you want the best at a cheaper price, make up the patterns yourself and take them to a trimmer. Check with him about the hood lining too. And don't skimp on the quality of materials.

WANTED: 240z/260z
Ozdat is worth keeping an eye on, ads changed every Wednesday night.

Looking at 260
What the others said, particularly why is he selling it so soon? That bit sounds very sus. BTW, it should go up on a hoist for a proper examination. Wouldn't worry about the console too much though, used ones are available if you want one.

Best lightweight racing wheels?
None of you use 8" wide wheels in a 15" or the classes don't allow them? Pretty universal here with 225 tyres, they sit flatter on the rim and don't round the shoulders as much.

WANTED: 240z/260z
Nice WA site there Mr C.

Wantanabe Price?
Thanks Alan. Was just wondering if any Ozzonians had tried the pommy minilites, could be a better proposition than the Wannabes. IIRC Stuckeys Tyre Service were agents for them at one time
-
Wantanabe Price?
Alan T, you there? Anyway, what is the deal with the original UK Minilite maker? Name has escaped the brain a t the moment but don't they still do a full range to suit first gen Z's? What sort of money do they go for, do you know?

240z front lip and rear boot spoilers
There are a couple of blokes in the Sydney Z car club who have a lot of competition experience, nice fellas too.:classic: On the roll cage, it should particularly tie in the rear strut towers with a behind the driver hoop with some diagonal bracing there too. To counteract twisting in that area. On the 240 body, but not the genuine 260 body so much, the windscreen pillars are weak at the bottom.

Mini lites for 240z's?
Yeh, they are readily available to order but make sure of the size and offset you want. And shop around, prices vary.
-
Got my new 240z!
Good for you!! Sounds like the car is a real goer, enjoy.:classic: Look forward to viewing the pics, probably have seen it round seeing its an ex Q comp car.

240z front lip and rear boot spoilers
For a good cage that is a fair price. To do a good cage takes a lot of time, that is where the money goes. As a general observation, check out the class you will be racing in and be very clear what is allowed and what isn't. It would also be a good idea to develop a connexion with a Z shop who is involved in competition stuff. Buy what you can from him. You are probably aware of all that but there are so many tricks and traps in preparing a car and spending money wisely........

240z front lip and rear boot spoilers
Z Car Workshop, Brisbane, tel 3808 2755. There is one Murrican front spoiler I like, think MSA sell them, but too bulky to airfreight to Oz. So, going to make my own when time allows. BTW the road scraper type front spoilers work a lot better than those cute little spook types.

Mini lites for 240z's?
Anytime I see the genuine racing ones for sale they are for an arm and a leg, plus a few other body parts as well. Of course you could do what a lot of us do and buy Performance brand which have a range of sizes new for around $200 each.

max revs for cast pistons
IIRC at around eight you start to head for camshaft and crankshaft breakages. Cast pistons are more of a problem if you get a bit of pre-ignition, forged ones can withstand more such abuse.

What I did on the weekend
A mates car was seam welded and has a bolt in half cage fitted. And its plastic is quiet, unlike mine which is now getting the half cage treatment too.
-
What I did on the weekend
IMHO your extensions are a good idea as is the seam welding. The extensions weigh very little and the weight is low as in center of gravity.
-
What I did on the weekend
Those frame rail extensions are a good idea. Very little extra weight and its low weight.
