Looks good but for some reason or other phones do not belong in my race car, according to the driver
  2. Love the wide S130's and Z31's, if I was starting over a S130 wide replica would be my first choice. With the present skidding VG30DET donk of course

No, but I have just got a Oregon Scientific ATC9K with a G meter and the optional GPS module to do overlay videos, Racerender seems like it should work to do that, will be trying it out in the New Year.
  4. Love that, brilliant

Friend in his 370Z, basically standard NA engine, stripped, aero, Hoosier R6 tyres. So you think a OE production V6 can't sound good and lap faster than most porkers? Oooops, got banned from HybridZ for promoting that reality, hehe, touchy
  6. Not an old pic but a friend at Phillip Island driving his historic spec 280Z with commitment
  7. Brilliant, if that BSR pic does not stir the race genes then you are not a track cracker

Nice drive, that looks like a fun circuit too.
  9. Loving the Z31 race cars, the no messing tough look.

Hungaroring is a rubbish circuit and the kerbing mentioned is a problem, I think it is like that for safety reasons at that point. If you go off there a big solid wall is not far away. Kerbing has it's use though, it protects the outer edge of the track from being damaged and eroded away and then being a safety risk eg tyre damage.

Why is the Z illegible for the event, too fast? Yum, 140E for two laps of Le Mans, problem is shipping the Z over and back would leave me stressed in the financial sense
  12. 260DET replied to Lazeum's post in a topic in RACING
All you need now is to get those Z's on the track

Bit of a traffic jam there and the Z driver is being very polite, great track though.

Love the long fast American tracks, the only ones comparable in AU would be Mt Panaroma (Bathurst) and Phillip Island although I can do over 200kph at Lakeside and through The Kink too which adds to the, errrr, excitement I find that the alternative coloured kerbs can be handy as markers eg corner apex, otherwise the problem is that there is always someone who will cut a corner and throw up rubbish onto the track.

This incar is of a one lap PB around the improved Lakeside circuit in AU, hosted a couple of international F1 GP's back in the late sixties plus V8 supercar races after then. Now it hosts races, time attack etc up to State level, pretty testing circuit but a real blast if you can keep it on the tarmac Anyway here is the vid, perhaps others would like to post their one lap PB's, Z is a 280ZXT with a VG30DET engine and Federal FZ201 semi slicks
  16. Early 70's in AU, I have no details but the circuit looks like one near Sydney that has been closed for a long time. Unfortunately this class of racing is now non existent, for S30's it's either historic racing or targa events now.
  17. That Car and Driver test is rubbish, for a start they quote Goetz as designing the S30 which he did not and then go on to quote his criticism of the front shape of the S130 which was largely dictated by aero requirements as Nissan said at the time and was something apparently neither Goetz or C&D were aware of. Maybe the US S130's had a softer spec suspension but generally speaking a good stock S130 will handle better than a S30, around a race track they go quite well and their much improved aero usually makes them faster than a S30. Basically the tester seemed to think that the firmer and noisier a car rode the better it handled which of course by itself is nonsense.

Someone had better tell me how to get an entry in to that event Because I tried to contact the organisers but got no response
  19. Note the S30 which got a bit shotgunned by flying debris, yeh, just another histronic day at the track
  20. That old it deserves a pro rebuild doesn't it? Tricky DIY job I believe.

All aluminium? Can't be, the cover can be but the rest has to be ferrous. Can't comment much further but I would take the whole thing to a clutch specialist, maybe as you indicate Tilton bits could be used as replacements.

Bastard, I am consumed by jealousy therefore cannot make a coherant response. Got any 280ZX fiberglass doors to ship to AU?
  23. 260DET replied to RP975's post in a topic in Aftermarket
Did this ever make it to the driving stage?
  24. Don't know what the US rules allow but if it was me with appropriate $ the idea would be to input all the relevant S30's suspension data into a good suspension program and go from there. It happens here in AU, big $ 'classic' cars outperform modern cars in competition, the educated opinion is their suspension is the reason why. And we are not talking bolt ons, we are talking a complete revision and change where necessary of all, all, suspension alignments, whatever it takes to optimimise suspension performance. I get the impression that the US is a bit behind when it comes to anything other than what can be bought from some vendor or other.

This Big Sam certainly gets a lot of attention, I'm not sure why though. Perhaps because it was the only notable Datsun in the UK? Other than that, what was so exceptional about it?
