Brake pads
Metal Kings are a good pad. I use Bendix Ultimates on the nonstock calipers on mine but there is not much between the two.

Umm Hi Hi
'day all, its starting to warm up considerably in Brissy, love the winters here. Likely that the 260 will be given a run at the QR sprints next Saturday, tweaked the suspension a bit in an effort to get better power down out of the corners. Always fun, keeps me stoked for several days Basically after about eight years the 260 is finished, bloody ripper car now, so nice to drive in a firm no nonsense sort of way. Looking for a later model Nissan coupe for the next project, big turbo V6 Anyway, enjoy your Zeds, at the very least don't get too pissed off

Sticky? Used Parts Prices
A decent bonnet for $250 is good buying, I'm thinking ~$350 for mine which is in about as good a condition as possible for a used panel. The doors are pretty well perfect, no rust, no repairs, someone has suggested ~$500 each for them, have'nt decided yet. I've spoken to a couple of people who do s30's up for customers, eg they are sending one car to Africa, and they say prices are rising quickly. Which makes the recent sale of a Gold Coast 260 2+2 manual with a big RF hit for $100 a bit of a bargain

Adj camber bolts
Lots of competition Zeds use them, have them on mine. A couple of advantages - you can relocate the inner LCA pivot points when fitting them, and, they widen the front track.

Sticky? Used Parts Prices
Would a sticky on this topic be useful, for major parts anyway? Buyers and sellers should benefit, right now I have a good 240Z bonnet, both doors and other stuff for sale but don't have much idea on fair prices.

Hurricane Katrina
As far as foreign assistance to the US goes, it has happened in the past eg help fighting bushfires. With events like the recent tsunami, which was over hyped, I guess the rationale is that third world governments are not as able to assist their population as Western countries are.

Fuel System / Gas Tank Question
Check how much a fuel cell will hold, how it would fit in and how much space it would take up. The answer to those questions will help you decide. Basically the stock tank is more practical for general use, a fuel cell is best if performance is everything. On the lines, assuming your car has both a feed and return line stock, they are good for at least 300rwhp, maybe a bit more.

R33 suspension in 240z
Agree with Jon. A well driven good but not exceptional modern car can give a stockish S30 a very hard time, used to happen to me on the track Why can they be quick? Chassis and suspension. The challenge with the S30 is to improve on something which already looks quick to make it so. And to harass more expensive sports cars Passed the Mondial soon after that pic was taken.

Aftermarket oil temp probe, stick it where?
What Chris said ^ Best at the back of the sump, less likely to get caught on something.

Spring choice in Oz
Be good to be kept informed as to how the Noltec tops perform, K-mac have such a bad rep that now I would not touch their tops.

Almost Perfect '81 10th Aniversary ZX in San Jose Junkyard!!
Too bad its on the other side of the world Seriously, I'm looking at buying a ZX two seat coupe and because they were never officially imported into Australia it looks like I have to import one myself. Probably from Japan because they are RHD but a steering conversion would not be that hard.

front top strut mount location!!
Mine measures ~520mm from the strut tower middle hole back to the adjustable bonnet support bolt hole, there is one of those on both sides. From the top of the bottom rail to the top of the strut tower middle hole is ~405mm. Avatar car is mostly used for race circuit work and driving to and from, love it

front top strut mount location!!
Had a look in the workshop manual? IIRC the factory manual has key chassis measurement info. Link to the photo? But if it was mine I'd be looking at changing the stock strut mount location, particularly with a competition car. More negative camber, castor?

Longer Wheel Studs
Don't buy them retail in those little packets, a bloody ripoff. There are much cheaper sources I've heard mentioned but I don't know of them. Phone a few bolt/wheel/parts places?

240z finally registered!
It may just be necessary just to get the guards rolled and stretched a bit, using one of those rolling gadgets that bolts to the hub. The point is that once the ZG flares are fitted thats it, they do stick out quite a bit, particularly at the rear. See this pic, 8x15" wheels. osella QR 28-5-05.bmp

Trans Tunnel primer?
It looks like its been brushed on. If so some time after manufacture of the car.

Wheels that will fit Zeds
The ones below are my 15 x 8" race wheels, custom jobs based on Volk centers. Total cost ~$550 each.

Overhead cam VS pushrod design? Which is better?
'day Dave There is a particularly significant problem with a turbo L, at least in a hot climate. Heat, although IIRC Dave has his turbo away from the side of the engine. Having a non crossflow head your are stuck though with a hot exhaust manifold under and next to the inlet equipment. Bad! Having a turbo only adds to that problem. Badder than bad

R33 suspension in 240z
When looking at such a conversion I weighed a bare S13 rear cradle which was around 28kg, not much lighter than a R200 diff. Think that the S13 cradle is a bit lighter than the Skyline job too. As I said before, the Sydney car is a beauty and its great to see people trying different things and telling us about them <<< Avatar car has been converted to CV axles and has big rear brakes while retaining the stock suspension. It also has a R180 ATB diff, strong enough and a bit lighter than the R200. But to each their own

Overhead cam VS pushrod design? Which is better?
The other point of course is weight. The VG30E is significantly lighter than the L28, the VQ30 significantly lighter that the VG Only problem with a VQ is working a gearbox to fit.

Overhead cam VS pushrod design? Which is better?
Ah, I took the poll to be about OHC engines in general, not the L6 in particular. Which was a good engine in its time, the '70's. Mine was fitted with a FJ20DET about eight years ago, now a VQ30DET would probably be the engine of choice. A mate of mine has a RB30ET in his, goes quite well.
