Flaring Guards
With the new wide wheels I've now got the front guards at least will have to be flared. Anyone familiar with the products here? http://www.fibresports.com.au/Datsun%20Kits.htm Some better pics would be great, its impossible to tell from the pics provided how much wider the guards are using either flare they offer. Anyone got them on their car?

In with the 280ZX Coupe
When you think about it the necessary bits to change from a lefty to RHD should be cheaply available from a plus two here. The difficult bit would be the firewall part where the clutch/brake cylinders mount, etc. I need a shed, its a man's right to have a shed :rambo:

In with the 280ZX Coupe
Thanks for the offer halz but 'wanting' and 'having' in this case are a bit far apart No worries Mike, seen em for sale in NZ, probably be able to get one from Japan as well. If that black coupe doesn't appeal then you blokes have no petrol in your soul :cheeky:

In with the 280ZX Coupe
Yep, I want one, a two seater coupe not the trashy plus two targa top version Australia got. Stick a V8 in one, sort the suspension out......... But not a red interior  In black with some wide retro style wheels will do nicely http://www.infoaomori.ne.jp/~fairlady/tosougo130.htm

How 'bout this for a race setup?

How 'bout this for a race setup?
With 250f/350r springs you could try doing without the rear anti sway bar, remove or loosen one link right off if you don't have time to take the whole bar off. With both stock bars in place though the car should oversteer if anything. Or, if the springs are interchangeable swap them front to rear. But I'd play with the rear bar as above first. Don't want to know about the speedway tweeks If it still wants to understeer no matter what you do with setup, try some light left foot braking through the problem corners, keeping the power on though and assuming that the brakes can take the extra work. And let us know how it all goes, fascinating stuff.

Fuel/Brake Line Cleaning - Photos
Blow through both ends of each line would be the go. The frame rail extension idea is a good one, didn't know about that idea when my 260 was rebuilt. It would be good if the lines could be routed alongside the rail rather than underneath it. That way they get some protection and are much less likely to be damaged in use.

You could try putting a short length of plastic tubing over the end of a line and blow solvent through it that way, using the air gun you don't have Don't know what solvent, can't see that turps would do any harm although metho would be better for brake lines. Mate you have to get an air compressor. That, a bench grinder and pedestal drill in that order are the go for us home mechs.

How 'bout this for a race setup?
Here are some Z anti roll bar rates that were posted here or at HybridZ some time ago. Using the stock bar setup. Front: 22mm - 268lb/inch, 23 - 321. Rear: 20 - 86, 21 - 105, 22.5 - 139 One reason why I prefer heavier springs to anything larger than a 22mm front bar.

Love the car Jim. Are you both going to be at the Sydney hosted Nationals next year? On the track would be good

How 'bout this for a race setup?
With a dedicated race car like that with a strengthened body if the track is not too bumpy you could go up to around 500 lb springs, a bit lighter in the front than the back. With those sorts of rates you may find that you can do without a rear anti sway bar. My car which has to be driven on the road has 275f/300r, its the Koni shocks which make such a difference, my teeth are in no danger of being jarred loose either. Tokico's, pfffttt :dead:

Less police, more cameras.
In the end if politicians keep getting voted back in they'll keep on with the rip off.

How 'bout this for a race setup?
Has it got a tied in roll cage? Makes a hell of a difference, the stock 240 body is very flexy so diverting suspension settings and loads. 350f/250r sounds a very peculiar spring setup, they should be much closer tending to a bit more on the rear than front, but debatable Dump the Tokico's, Koni's or Bilstein's minimum.

HybridZ.org left me confused :S
Good point 440k, an exotic engined Zed will not be competitive in the racing classes it will be eligible for. Basically its historics or nothing if you want to race officially and be competitive in class. And historics have to be mostly original. But for fun stuff like sprints it depends on the organisers as to what class you go in and who cares where you come, providing you enjoy the day

HybridZ.org left me confused :S
On the topic, you should remember that in Oz we have been doing exotic engine transplants for a long time and in a lot of variety. My old mate with the RB30ET started his around eight years ago and has now done nearly 40000k, my FJ20ET was started around seven years ago. RB transplants in the US are fairly recent while they have been doing V8's for yonks. There is plenty of info around on Oz transplants but some of it does take some finding.
