  7. Another note, when I start driving the car around and it's getting dark and time to turn on the headlamps the headlights do this surging thing, and the CPU icon flashes on and off, it even flashes when we don't even have the lamps on and it's pure daylight. You think that it could be an alternator problem..? Sent from my iPad using Classic Zcar Club mobile
  8. It gets spark, the engine turns over. It just cranks but won't turn on anymore. The fuel pump is kicking in. Is there a way to upload videos..? Sent from my iPad using Classic Zcar Club mobile
  9. I've got my car running again and I've encountered a new problem. So after changing injectors and fuel pump and draining the fuel tank( ethanol fuel rotted in the tank) I've been just putting ethanol free. But the way I got my car running was when I took off the fuel damper and replaced it with a universal filter the car started right up and it's been running for about two weeks now, but today while driving it just died. The car would crank and the pump was going and I checked the fuel pressure on the gauge and I was getting about 42 psi but the car wouldn't want to turn on anymore. We tried pushing it and popping it in second and that wouldn't even work. So we had to tow it back with my dads van and we still tried popping it in second and it still wouldn't turn on while towing it. Should I put the damper back on even though it wouldn't turn on with it..?. I don't want to get stuck somewhere far away, since it is my daily driver. Sent from my iPad using Classic Zcar Club mobile
  10. Thanks guys
  11. After a couple of months we've got the car to run again. The problem was bad fuel and we had to purge all the lines out with clean fuel. We also changed the fuel pump and fuel filter. But we ran into another issue, the car is over fueling. One of my friends who's a mechanic said to see if we can find new injectors. But is that the only option for this problem. We also put a bottle of sea foam in the gas to clean the injectors so it could burn the bad fuel. We've been fueling it with premium but it might be too rich. Any thoughts? Sorry for the late post
  12. On the tape it looks fine when I take it off, it just looks like he was marking them with numbers because everypiece of tape has a number on it
  13. Alright I will check to see if I have a clear container.and it says 11/75
  14. My father and I put the oil in the gallon container the new oil came in,that way we can dispose of it correctly. So I dripped some on the ground.
  15. This is the oil we drained out of the vehicle and the plaque you guys were talking about
  16. The title of the car is good. And has never been in a accident
  17. I meant when we drove the car it ran perfectly fine. Alright will take some more pictures
  18. The previous owner kept it outside for about a week and a half in the snow. The radiator had anti-freeze but we drained it in order to start the "crack head"sealer. The instructions on the can said that we needed to drain the radiator completely, with no residue...completely clean.then we had to fill it with water and try to idle the car. But we could never have the car idle. When we drove the car it ran perfectly. As soon as we turned the key it would turn on with no problem almost instantly and never misfired. We put new spark plugs and we bought a new fuel pump that's currently in that gets 45psi and we put new wires and oil filter in it and we still have to put in the new brake master.
  19. Also it's my first car. My father bought it for me just about about a month in a half
  20. The weather currently is in its 50's and the car is in our garage. But when it was cold we had a heater running in our garage so it wasn't outside. I also use Skype on my iPad that way it's more mobile.
  21. I went into my garage to start up my car and it began to run, then the car just turns off and won't even start up anymore. We think it might be because of the fuel pump or the engine because when we try to start it up it will try to run for a while but the smoke isn't black it's more of a whiteish color. Another symptom is that the oil on the dipstick is of a chocolatey color, which means water. The car also misfires a lot. We asked a retired Datsun mechanic what would be the cause of this and he responded that water might have been going in the engine and that the year for the 1978 280z developed a crack in the cylinder head and in order to save the engine we had to drain the oil and let the car sit for 24 hours. And put new oil and hope the engine is fine. 2nd we went to oriellys auto parts to see what it would cost to buy a new head cylinder but the guy wanted to know what was wrong with the car and we told him the symptoms, and he decided we needed some head crack sealer that goes in the radiator. And now we're stuck. need help. Skype could be a good way to see what's going on with our car.
