Z fender mirrors?
Hi all! I've been away from the page for awhile, and am amazed and impressed with the website changes! Great work Classic Z! Just a quick note... I stumbled upon these on eBay, and am wondering if they are original fender mirrors for a Z? If so, they are a great price... from what I understand, original mirrors are crazy expensive and very hard to find! So to all my z friends out there, can u tell me, are these the real deal? If so, lmk, and I can provide the link Hope this helps someone! K the lil z lady Sent from my iPhone using Classic Zcar Club mobile

HELP!!! Have a short SOMEWHERE 72 240z
Oh so wise Z community! I need your assistance desperately! I have a short... Somewhere! I currently have, running lights at all. I also have no dash lights, marker lights, tail lights, or engine light. I believe the dome light is also not working. What I do have is headlights, turn signals, brake lights, map light, and radio. When I change the fuse (tried 3 times) it immediately flashes and burns.. So much so that I burned my finger. Oh wise ones! You direction and help is very needed! Thanks much! Kira The lil z lady

Need original power antenna for 72 240z
Antennana... Oh my... What an odyssey this antenna thing has been! I didn't think getting a replacement that would work with the original equipment would be so difficult! I originally purchased an antenna that was supposed to fit and work seamlessly... NOT! It didn't fit and I had to return it (So beware of buying on eBay for replacement that is supposed to fit your 240z) In the end, I purchased a small antenna that can be easily removed when washing the car. Unfortunately it is not power. (See attached photo) It works great, looks good, was inexpensive, and I have no complaints. I purchased it at O'Reillys Auto Parts. I was finally able to find a NOS original factory antenna (I paid a silly amount for it, but at least I know it will function as it is supposed to!) Like u mentioned, I pray I don't forget to make sure it's down before some silly kid walks by and snaps it off! Grrr! ) It will be installed next week! Can't wait! K The lil z lady

Black Pearl Center Caps
Hey there! Thanks for sharing ur experience! I have found these caps in many places, they seem to be easily available. I was hoping to keep the wheels original with the caps, but this is good to know as a backup! Too true that the caps I'm looking for don't fit well and can come off easily, though I did solve that by adding a bead of silicone. Thanks for the helpful feedback! I'll continue the quest, but if I just can't find them, this is a great fall back! Thanks for the contribution! K The lil z lady the quest continues.. It's a little like treasure hunting!

1978 280z black pearl?
Appreciate everyone's thoughts. It's difficult to look at a car from across the country unless you want to take on the expense to do so. This car has a history that seems to make sense, but as Lootha above pointed out, it may indeed be a black pearl, but without more documentation.. That's a hard sell. Yes, siteunseen apparently was a planned project for her son, who has since gotten married and is buying a house... Needs cash. Car is at her place, so she's helping him sell it. Prior to that it has a bit of tragic history... A couple bought the car for their son, who was later tragically killed in an auto accident. The car sat for 9 years in a garage, as the parents couldn't bear to sell the car. Id like to do some more digging.. However Im not convinced I need to get on a plane yet. This may be more of a project than I want, as someone wisely said above! Appreciate u! K The lil z lady

1978 280z black pearl?
Anyone familiar with the SAP pkg? I know it has particular stripes... These aren't the same I don't think. I know louvers ( of course louvers can be added after market, so is there a way to tell if they are original to the SAP pkg? side mirrors are the big question for me... How can u tell if these are black pearl mirrors? Wheels are a whole other question! There are so few ways to determine if a car was originally ordered as a black pearl, or just made to look like one! Ok Z friends! Expertise needed. I have reviewed and studied the fact sheet on these cars, but am still concerned if I'm considering an original BP that has just been repainted? Thanks in advance! K

1978 280z black pearl?
Ok gang, new photos I just received of the black pearl I'm considering... Please weigh in. Are these the mirrors louvers and wheels that would be correct? Any other thoughts appreciated much! Anxious to hear your thoughts! K

1978 280z black pearl?
Will do, I am waiting for photos as we speak. I would love everyone's thoughts. The amount of know leg on this page continues to amaze me! Thanks! Hi Mike! Thanks for the catch! I hadn't looked that closely, and was more concerned with the build date initially. As for a repaint on this car (haven't seen it in person) would it be a fair assumption to think that many of these cars have been repainted? Black is a tough color to maintain. I do know the original color was 638 from a worn sticker on the radiator. As I understand as I learn more, any cars that were black for 1978 and have the BP modifications should be considered black pearls... Is this correct? Love your thoughts on this! Also, since I may be looking for my next project, which would you consider to be more rare, the black pearl or the black and gold 10th anniversary? I'm looking for a car that I can potentially restore and have hold value like my 240 seems to have? I may start another thread to discuss this very issue so I don't hijack this one Anyone else want to weigh in? Thanks much! K additional photos I have received so far, attached below..

Hi there! Yes, I've seen this also. Thanks for the post! Been doing all kinds of research on this car, thank goodness for the Internet! K

1978 280z black pearl?
Great Gang! thanks for the response. I'm trying to get more photos, especially of the side mirrors as I'd like confirmation that these are pearl mirrors. Also trying to confirm if louvers are aftermarket or dealer add. Anyone have any idea how to tell if louvers are original to the car? Obviously age would be a possible confirmation, but wondering if there was a specific brand Datsun used, or any other identifying factors. Anyone want to weigh in on this one? Thanks, K

1978 280z black pearl?
Hi all! I could use your thoughts... I am looking at what I believe is a Black Pearl, no stripes, but paint (including paint code sticker) mirrors and louvers seem to be right. My question is the build date is 12/77. I thought the pearl was only produced in 78? Is this build date close enough to be considered? I'm looking at the car long distance so it's tuff to tell everything. If I can confirm more, I'll be jumping on a plane to go have a look. Ill post some photos of the car when I have a moment, I'm on the fly right now. I'd love your thoughts! Thanks, K
