Rear Hatch Louvers
Good information all! What about the fiberglass ones? Anyone tried those? Seems like that would at least solve the rattle problem. The other issues above are a real concern, however, I live in Vegas, and the sun damage to the interior... Already very dry and brittle. Plus just keeping the car cooler and more comfortable to drive. I'm not sure what is worse... Any thoughts on the Fiberglass, besides that it's not as sleek looking? K

'72 Z Radio
Hi Gang... So glad I still have mine! guess I'm a lucky dog! Just think how many of these were trashed for "upgrades" Crazy! Speaking of the original z radios I'm looking for the manual that came with the car. I have all the other original documents for my car, maintanance log, plastic card for dealer with vin and other information specific to the car... Folder it tucks into, original window sticker ( cool find) Etc... The car is very well documented. But I realized that most Z's also came with a manual for the hitachi radio, and since mine is still installed and in great working order, Id like to add this to complete my manuals. Reproductions can be found at the z store, but I'd like an original, if possible... (Can you say purest! Lol!) Also some Z's came with a manual that just had in large print AM/FM... I've only seen this in one car, but I'm curious, and would like either or both. If you stumble across either one, have a source for either, or don't have a need for yours, since you no longer have the radio, please contact me! I'd appreciate it much! Big thanks! K The lil z lady

54th Z Up For Sale?
Ok you guys are too funny! The weed catch is hilarious! However... How scary is it that a bunch of amateur sleuths like us can find out so much information about someone just by google maps and the newspaper! It's a crazy day and age we live in! This post was fascinating! Did anyone ever talk to the guy? I mostly grew up on the east side of the Cascade mountains, ( which is where Spokane is) ...as someone mentioned above, it is quite dry. If I still lived close, this is interesting enough, I'd want to venture a peek! Of course I'd also take a big dog, and the biggest muscle man I could find at the local gym, and a GUN! Someone go look at this car... And let all of your fellow sleuths know what you found out! But most importantly, stay safe!! K The lil z lady

Check this Damaged Auto Website Out
My heart breaks just a bit looking at these cars It's sad to see the ones that were clearly loved and well taken care of before they ended up here . Then the ones, like the last listing... Left in someone's pasture to rust, until it came here. Just sad! Reminds me a bit of the airplane graveyard in AZ.... Great site post though! Oh for the love of our z cars! K

Parts Needed 72 240 Z
Doesn't sound good, does it? Might be more costly than worth it, especially if you keep reading below! However, great job guys, I appreciate the views and thoughts! This part seems like a tough find, and now maybe I understand why? Although this switch does look a little different from the others I have seen. As Terrapin Z mentioned, it did come out of a 71, and mine is a 72. Although I understand this was a dealer option and not a... Dare I say the "F" word (based on the post "7 words to never say") ... Factory. Is it possible different a/c units/switches were available at different dealers? I say this, because, see the below paragraph...and I'd love additional weigh in from all. My Z was installed with A/C at the dealership when purchased. However, it didn't come with this additionally installed control unit. On my a/c unit box that is located under the glove box, there is an on off knob with arrow showing if you turn it past on and keep turning all the way you will increase the coolness. To access the a/c you move the knob on the heater control and select vent. Tadah... A/C on. So mine came without the extra mounted switch mounted on the driver side. You would think all the dealers would have access to the same a/c units and switch and isn't it curious that there is a variation? Another thought that occurs to me after everyone's great feedback is this.... I don't NEED this switch, mine works fine. I just thought I'd LIKE one? Am I chasing after more problems out of want rather than need? I'm thinking that is probably the case. For those of you following me on the SU carb issue... Another exercise in futility? Thoughts? I'll take photos of the a/c unit when I'm next at the shop just so you can see what my unit looks like. Im learning gang! Hang tuff with me K The lil z lady... Learning!

Looking for SU carbs for sale for a 1972 240 z
Hey Mark... so these are SU's? Based on my mfg date and the discussion above should they be flat tops? Or have they been switched out at some point and I have the domed ones now? Regardless, I'm doing my HAPPY dance if you are correct!!!! I'll try to get a better shot of them the next stop at the shop and you can give me your thoughts. Thanks for weighing in! What is the best way for me to identify exactly what I have? Thoughts? Thanks! K

Looking for SU carbs for sale for a 1972 240 z
Hi Fellas!Lots of great advice and opinions here! As for what to do next, I thought I ought to go down to the shop and take a couple of quick pictures and have you weigh in on the next best direction to go... or after reading the Captains note...Stay right where I am! As I mentioned the car runs and tunes great! I was just under the impression I got hosed! Please feel free to weigh in with your thoughts, good or bad! I can take it! Here you go! By the way since build date seems to make a big difference, I also took a picture of the tag for you to review. She was a January Baby in 1972! See the post below for the picture. Thanks much! K

Terrapin Z, Its a cool switch, if it works, would be great! Do you have any other parts on my list? Any other parts on my list? you mentioned you might have a few? Just checkin'... LMK. Thanks! BTW gang, anyone know where I can locate some R12 coolant refill? Otherwise, I'll have to make the switch. I'd rather delay at least a bit, so I can let my pocketbook play catch up! Thoughts, K

Looking for SU carbs for sale for a 1972 240 z
Hi Gang! Thanks for the suggestions, and thoughts! I did get a post from a member who may have a set that need to be rebuilt, so I am waiting for a response from him. For Chuck and Mark... So do you really want to hear my sad, sob story??? Get out your towel, this one will make you cringe! When I first started this project back up in 2013, I took my Z to a shop to have the carbs serviced as it was running rough. (You would be too after being a couch potato for several years!) I didn't realize then the value or rarity of my SU's. I was told by the mechanic that the carbs were bad and needed to be replaced. (I now realize they only needed to be tuned by an appropriate mechanic! ) They were replaced by what I have since been told are a poor knock off. I paid a hefty bill, and off I went... Not knowing I had been completely scammed! Lesson learned, only use a mechanic that you know can do the job!, and that you trust! The car runs and sounds great, but I am just sick over the loss of my original SU's! So I am hoping to eventually right a wrong for my girl! Big Expensive lesson learned! And for those of you thinking... She should have asked the mechanic to give the parts back. Another lesson learned... Always ask for your parts back!!! My beautiful SU's I'm sure were sold by said mechanic who realized what they were and what he could get for them. Hopefully they found their way to someone elese's lovely 240 Z. End Sob Story... See I told you that you didn't really want to know! Thanks again for all the helpful advice and support. Hopefully with the help of my new Z friends, mistakes like these can be avoided in the future! K BTW Mark, since I now have nothing to reference too, what should the SU's be for my 72? 3 screw, 4 screw? Any other advice is appreciated!
