  1. Thanks, I might just stick with another R180 for now. BTW, what is the highest gear ratio for an R180 ??? Thanks Luke
  2. Hi, I have just done the diff in my 71' Zed and I have a spare R200 which has 4.5:1 diff gears (I think?) My question is what parts do I need other than the diff itself. Do I need 260z half shafts and moustache bar?? Any help would be required and vendors who could help me out in the South East Queensland Area, Australia. Thanks Luke

I live on the Sunshine Coast in Australia ans through the Summertime it gets really warm. I'm talking up to 35 degrees celcius. Now engine cooling is not a problem as I have twin 11inch thermo fans on a re-cored radiator. My problem is severe engine power loss from extreme heat coming from the extractors. When I first start the car in the morning and drive to work it is very responsive until the engine gets warm then I think the webers start to suck in the hot air and the power is lost. I am looking for plans to make some sort of a heat shield to reduce the heat drawn in from the webers, or other ideas to help me with my problem. I have thought about the hot coated headers idea, but looking for something a bit cheaper. Thanks Luke

After I sold my first Zed, I thought I did the right thing, you know I needed the money and all. Then for every day after that I missed it so bad. Everytime I got into a car, I missed that old car smell.... That oil and fuel fragrance, the things that make you proud of what your driving. The Datsun Z car is "A piece of Automotive History" as my Dad would say, and the only way to replace it was....... with another. I only found out about it after seeing Alan at the Z car workshop in Brisbane. He told me of a lady that might sell one of the two Z's she had. And as the story goes, I was lucky enough to replace the missing member in my family.
  8. Can you replace the diaphram or is it easier to get a new pump. And if so where? Thanks Luke
  9. What seems to be the problem... At first I thought it must be the gasket between the fuel pump and the spacer, so I put on a new gasket and sealant. Then the problem persisted. It only leaks maybe 5-10ml after a 30km drive, but when the engine bay is nice and clean it can pi$$ me off no end. How can I fix this? After a second look closely with the car running and nice and warm, it is definately spitting out from that little hole on the fuel pump. Luke
  10. The suspension is in and it is unbelievably good! The old shocks were obviously crap, so when I inserted these Tokicos...... ooh yeah, I am not disappointed. I have them set on 3, and they feel so nice on the road. Here are some pics. By the way guys, thanks for all your help over these past 2 months, and without this forum I would be nowhere. Cheers Luke
  11. I have had the same problem with both of my Z's. Mine now reads just over half on the guage when it is full to the brim. If I run it to empty or very close to, when I refill the tank, it takes about 25 liters. So I must be not even going through half a tank. Giving that the 240z tank is 60 liters. Any solutions to this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
  12. The Compliance plate - 7/71 00945 The Black and Silver Datsun Plate - 00945 Engine No. - 042097 However on my firewall is engraved HS30 01331. My current L24 engine no. is - L24-046864 Hope this helps you in some way. Luke
  13. Rodger That Carl. That would be a better idea. Thanks Luke
  14. They'll be going in this weekend if all goes to plan. They will be setup with Progressive King Springs. Just putting the engine in today but having a biatch of a time lining it all up by myself. Just got the flywheel back from being lightened and the new clutch (as shown). As soon as I know what they feel like, I will send you a PM. Thanks Luke
  15. Thanks Guys, By the way Gav I just registered to your forum, Top work champ. Its about time us Aussies had a local forum that has Aussie prices and Aussie variables. Thanks Again Luke p.s. g260, I'll check out those balancers tomorrow, Thanks.
  16. Are there any after market balancers available for the Z. I don't mind how much I just need one. But if I'm payin' I want a bloody good one. Thanks Luke
  17. That would be great Rob. Obviously the 240 and 260 ones are very similar?? Thanks Luke
  18. I need to find a balancer for my Z and I can't find one anywhere in Oz. It is going to cost me $180 to send my old one away and have the rubber insert replaced. Is this my only option??? Thanks Luke
  19. Hey, My new Tokico's have arrived in the mail... for $390 U.S. I was very happy with that because these are not available in OZ. Now which ones go where. (see attach.) Also, do I need that steel sleeve on two of them. And are there any tips, tricks or things I should do during the procedure. Thanks Luke
