L28 rebuild needs advice
Anyone who know what year this E88 head is? I searched but there's so many different opinions. This one looks like a 72 head but it doesn't have that square spark plug area like many other early E88s... I'm searching for any high compression heads except late E88s. Is it worth trying to buy a E31? There's not much heads for sale in U.S. any advice is welcomed.

L28 rebuild needs advice
Hello everyone I'm Lance. As you may saw earlier I bought a 240z with a L28 in it( The owner didn't even tell me he have a L28 in it until the car has been delivered all the way across America). Now the engine is out and apart and I'm ready to rebuild it. This engine is a N42 block with dished pistons and I'll guess it's a early one since the number stamped is small. It's got a E88 head and 3-screw SUs which I believe came with this car in 71. I'm not sure about the specs of the parts but it seems pretty stock to me. Anyway I have completely disassembled the engine and the block looks fine except those tiny tube inside coolant passage is broken (I removed coolant plugs and there's pieces of rusted metal so I cleaned it and saw this). If that's ok I guess I'll go get the rebore and honing done, as well as a new set of 280z valve and new flattop pistons. I might regrind the camshaft and make the duration longer. This engine is for daily driver so I don't want to be too aggressive. What are the things I need to worry about? I've done quite some research and bought a couple books. Throw some questions and advices at me so I can make sure I'm doing everything right. I'll post some Pics later.

1971 240Z rebuild
Took the intake manifold out yesterday. The coolant path is full of rubbish and will not flow. One of the hose connection is broke and half of it is still stuck in the intake. Cylinder 4 seems to have some problems because I saw the valve is covered in some mysterious stuff and there's oil on intake. Sent from my iPhone using Classic Zcar Club

1971 240Z rebuild
Carbs need clean up anyway, so I took it off. Knocked over the parts tray, missing one nut... It sucks... Found an old pump near the fuel tank, not plugged. Sent from my iPhone using Classic Zcar Club

1971 240Z rebuild
The valves seems stuck together. When I get it loose the pump seems to suck up fuel but is not doing anything. I use the electric pump to apply pressure, and it's leaking from the top. I guess now I will just use the electric one to get it started. Sent from my iPhone using Classic Zcar Club

1971 240Z rebuild
Sorry I put the new pump there just so I can use it to test the engine. The fuel line is probably full with crap and I don't want the new pump filter to get stuck... Fuel tank also needs to come out because it's leaking somewhere. Sent from my iPhone using Classic Zcar Club

1971 240Z rebuild
Did something yesterday and I found out that the engine is not getting fuel. I got a K&N pump and will give it a try tomorrow. Get the inspection light working! The switch seems to have some connection problem. I'm not sure about the intake heating solution, now the first thing is to start it. Then repair the fuel tank, then sort out a way to get all the tubing where it should go... I find only one hose for heater, and the intake doesn't have the fitting on the other end so if I plug it in it will just start poring out coolant. Sent from my iPhone using Classic Zcar Club

1971 240Z rebuild
Alright. I just done some research and find out that L24 and L28 block have different cooling loop. But they are proximity the same Since my engine is a L28 with SU carbs, should I just follow this diagram? Or should I go with the L24 loop Sent from my iPhone using Classic Zcar Club

1971 240Z rebuild
I quickly ran out and checked the spark plug wires, the wire is not in order when it comes to the holder on top of the valve cover. But I put it back into order anyway. Now I'm sure that the wire goes into where it should. But the wire connector for cylinder two is broken Sent from my iPhone using Classic Zcar Club
