240z dashboard vin tag
My car was a savage title and someone took my dash vin tag. And they scratched the door jamb plate for some reason. Haven't got around to fix that but this thread is definitely interesting. I'm keeping this for future reference. Sent from my iPhone using Classic Zcar Club mobile

Now. I've got the sight glass and it seems like my float level is alright. I have that one checked from the list. The car would still idle high. We're talking about nearly 3000 with all throttle linkage and opener adjustments backed out. I am sure that the butterfly valves are closing properly. What are the possibilities? Vacuum leak? Valve lash? I have a O2 sensor temporarily strapped to the end of my exhaust header. It seems like I can get around 14:1 AFR. But the reading jumps around. Now the car won't rev itself then die. It just idles really high. Any input is welcome. I'm eager to get it running right. Sent from my iPhone using Classic Zcar Club mobile

I should've bought a new can of stain instead of using some really old one... It turned nearly clear today leaving my wheel looking like only clear coated. Sent from my iPhone using Classic Zcar Club mobile

I see what you mean. I will check it for sure. But the car ran for over 20 mins when I cranked the rev to 2000 to break in the cam. That's why I said I think they're fine. I bought these from a guy in hybridZ and he just had it rebuilt and honed by Rebello. I'm thinking it might just be the fuel level and carb balance issue. I eyeballed the float level on the rear carb by turning the jet down 10 turns. It didn't die on me this time. My float bowl sight glass is on the way and I'll get it exact. High idle is still an issue that I need to take care of. Sent from my iPhone using Classic Zcar Club mobile

I'm sure those are good. The float bowl is getting fuel just fine. Sent from my iPhone using Classic Zcar Club mobile

You mean the fuel filter? Or the air filter? I don't have air filters on and I have a malpassi regulator in place of the filter Sent from my iPhone using Classic Zcar Club mobile

Update! I set the timing at 20 and tried to sync the carbs. It looks like I'm only running on one. The car would start, rev high on its own, then die. The front dome raise halfway while idle, but the rear would raise very little. Mixture nuts have been checked. Balance and opener screw are backed, the butterfly valve open screws are backed. The only thing I can think of is float level. Any input is welcome. I want to dial the carbs while I'm waiting on the timing module to be checked. Sent from my iPhone using Classic Zcar Club mobile

Sorry that the post I posted wasn't clear. The full system is using a pertronix module inside a 240z dizzy, signal triggers the module and then the output signal fires the MSD. The problem that I have now is that the module itself will not load any new timing map. There's something wrong with the EEPROM which writes all the maps. The unit can trigger just fine. I ran the car using the timing map I uploaded before the unit starts acting up. Now it's just the matter of waiting. Perhaps I can use the locked timing now and have the carbs dialed. The car was not running happy when I tried to run it.

Now what's more this company that made a programmable timing module, Daytona Sensors. They did not do a good job on their unit and their post sale support is unbelievable. I am unable to reach to them via phone, email(2 address) or Facebook. Spent 200 dollar on a pice of junk. The dizzy timing advance is deleted by me because I like to have a bit more control. Now I screwed myself and have to wait on someone that obviously doesn't care about customers to respond. I should have bought the programmable 6al2. Ugh. Thanks for the advice. You got a point. I will probably build a aluminum tank after I buy a Tig. I coated this tank but it is not the best choice for long run. It's dented with quite a bit of rust... as long as fuel pump goes I will try to put it on the rear frame rail. The tank has a mounting tab on it so I thought why not and then found out it's not the best choice. Sent from my iPhone using Classic Zcar Club mobile
