i have ordered my rear bushes through them via email over the last couple of days. $10 less than nissan each. But as always, if you are in a rush phone is the best way.
  3. No problems, at the conclusion of every step in this car i kick myself with "Now i know I should have done it that way". I will have to look at it on the weekend, I would like to buy a compressor but i dont hink i will use it often enough. They are a bit bulky to bring down to the local service station to use the tyre pump too...

sorry, for posting in two threads, but what size automoter gauges are you guys using?
  5. Anyone know what size autometer gauge will fit the triple gauge holes? 2" ?
  6. The benefit of hindsight and all that. :lick:
  7. solvent over my nice new paint...hmmm I have always needed an excuse to buy a compressor, but i dont know if this is it. thanks guys
  8. What is considered the best way do do this? I would think high pressure fluid down the lines, but I hardly want to shoot water downthere.
  9. This is the 3.9 LSD I am looking at interstate, how much can we tell from photos?
  10. One more quick observation that I never noticed before, are all rear Right and Left control arms the same part, just one upside down? I never picked up on this before but its definately the case on mine. There is a dish where the pin for the sway bar mounts, so on the right and left the dish causes one side to be higher than the other, due to one being "upsidedown", does this cause the sway bar to sit on an angle? i cant remember when removing it.
  11. Sorry, I meant LSD
  12. Sorry guys, could I ask again what is a reasonable price for a 3.9? There isnt enough of a supply to gauge an average price.
  13. The saw horses look a lot more professional than the old curtain rail i used to hang mine on for painting
  14. I took the bushes to a suspension place for advice and they recommended replacement, but obviously they would have a vested interest and they are calling me tomorrow with a quote on full nolathane bushes. I went to Nissan as well for a quote and for all 8 rear control arm bushes we are looking at $273.00AUD
  15. Ok, spent the best part of Sunday degreasing, scouring, wire brushing and painting my solid brake/fuel lines and all the associated metal brackets, I think this is now bordering on eccentric as I knew full well the would be fine in their oxidised slightly rusted form, but I just couldn't bare to put any sign of rust onto my nice clean car.

You will just need a custom sump and rb25 or rb20 gearbox to make the motor rwd.
  18. I guess the next question is, what is a reasonable "street" price for a decent ratio LSD, say a 3.9.
  19. Alternatives? Yes, datrats think they can source one but at the higher end of your price scale. I am speaking with a friend of mine who is dabbling in importing to see what i can find.
  20. Interesting. These are what I am looking at for hopefully under $50 a pair, this is a big saving over the nissan parts which makes them worth considering but at the same time I dont want to ruin all my hard work by skimping out on $100 now. :paranoid:
  21. Nissan trade discount? I wish. Anyone got a ball park on OEM ball joints then?
  22. I have seen some very cost effective "Premier" brand ball joints for sale and am wondering if there is any risk involved. What brands did you Aussies go for when you replaced yours, I haven't priced from nissan yet, but going by everything else i have priced/bought there, i dont think I want to.
  23. I havent seen that on SAU, but wouldnt it be just as easy to fit a mechanical centre into an OEM open diff? Ideally I would just like a complete unit to save on any potential mismatch problems. I have got in touch with a few wreckers and there seems to be not a lot around. Anyone got a detailed listing fo what cars they are found in? Import R31? Import/Local Z31?

  25. I graduated in communication/electronic engineering but currently am working in automoitve wiring harness engineering. It is a good first step I suppose but I am keen to get into automotive electronics, body control modules and the like.
