  1. The pillar looks different on this car? I cant remember what they should be, its been too long since i had a complete car.
  2. I have an L28ET which is very hard to source as a whole in Australia, I had to get the manifolds seperate. Its not like the US where you can pick them up in junkyards as they were never released here and importers to not carry them. As for the vented bonnet, I like the smooth look of the non-fluted/vented bonnet much better but Im wondering if the heat extraction provided may prove to be a necessity on a turbo motor.

Agreed, just hope it doesnt mean this: Image courtesy of Datto-Zed's 260Z in its sorry state
  4. from the pics it looks like the windscreen pillar trims are missing?

I think most cars have a "kink" or two in the rails. My car for instance has a few spots where it looks like it has hit something from beneath and the bottom of the rail is caved upwards but the side of the rails are still perfectly straight.
  6. Interesting... So the interior is complete? rear 1/4 and hatch interior trims? centre console and dash condition? Is everything black (are only the doors carpeted)? Any missing items or damage to note anywhere in the car? (other than the floors :classic: )
  7. how much! :classic:
  8. They dont "bolt right in". You will need two left Z31 shafts and one right Z31 shaft, or was it two right Z31 shafts and one left? :stupid: Anyhow you need 3 of them and there is some cutting an welding to get the length right. http://www.speed-technology.com have done a few in their time.
  9. Hahaha sounds like me a year or so ago. After I did some real world sums and spoke to several workshops my wallet led me to my L28ET.....
  10. DISCLAIMER: Ok, just for the record (which I'm sure you realise Alfadog) the blue LED thing was a complete joke to make light of the situation and before I receive any hate mail, letter bombs and the like, on record I have no intention of fitting anything remotely glowing blue on/in/around my 260Z

    wheres the 260Z dash dammit!
  12. Is this the right thread to ask where I can buy blue LED window washer jets to fit a Z?

fuel injected L28 motors can run unleaded, im not sure what motor yours is.
  14. I agree and disagree. I too have no real interest in orginality but this is also the reason I bought a 260Z over the 240Z. From the information I found the 260Z is a better car for high power due to better frame rails? Anyhow the trend I see is that a well modified 260Z picks up much more value than an original 260Z but it is not the same case as the 240Z. The 240Z is the original Z car and this reason alone is why people choose them over the 260Z, not because they are better but for their orginality. It therefore makes sense that such people would care about matching numbers and so forth and a good condtion orginal 240Z will be in higher demand than a non original one. That said some well modified 240Z's still pick up value but to the same degree a 260Z would in comparison. My 2c
  15. Racefix in Braeside did mine, click my link in my sig. for photos of the job. He will let you do what you can first and take over, for example he told me to do the underbody of my car myself otherwise if I was to pay for labour to do it it would cost a fortune and that was good advice as I am finding its not very hard, just time consuming. He will remember my car if you drop by and mention it.
  16. Wrapping is to reduce heat radiation. The most success I have had with noise reduction on a sports exhaust is to use centre offset mufflers. These are still straight through and flow well, but the entry is in the centre of the oval casing and the exit is offset to one side (or vice versa) meaning the muffler had greater internal surface area to absorb noise. Playing with resonators did nothing for me when I was trying to pass an EPA test. In my car I am hoping there is room under the Z for a mid muffler like this: http://www.airpowersystems.com.au/200sx/exhaust/entire_exhaust3.jpg As at all of 23yo, I am too old for the loud droning exhausts these kids like today

We will see what happens, its a bit down the track yet but I thought i'd get some opinions and discussion going in the mean time

I dont really want door mounted mirrors....call me strange :stupid: I think the M3 style mirrors would be smaller and wouldnt stick out as much as the mirrors pete used on that blue 240Z i posted. I guess my major concern is the styling of the M3 mirrors is too modern for the car, but they are both "swoopy"
  19. Cuong, how much is your 260 up for grabs for? I assume this one: http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost/data/500/1898dsc01215j-med.jpg The gf would be down for a trip to perth, its about the only place we havent been Z hunting in yet :cheeky:

Wont have to cut the class, will make up a bracket fixed to the window frame. I have seen cars use modern mirrors fixed like this and it looks great, plus i dont want to drill into my nice clean doors. http://mywebpages.comcast.net/pparaska/image/body/mirror_installed_frtv.jpg There will be no bodykits and crap, other than a front lip. Basically im not into restoring as per it left the factory and the fact that the car didnt come with a motor, let alone matching numbers and it is a 'less valuable 260Z" put rest to that. I do however love the inherent smooth lines of the Z and deleting the side repeaters and rear bumper as I have I feel accents these lines as will mirrors mounted in this position rather than jutting out from the door skin. Just my opinion. The issue at hand is not whether i will put mirrors there or not because I will regardless, its just whether i kill 2 birds by getting these mirrors with inbuilt repeaters or something more ordinary like the pictured 240Z. Thansk for the input guys.
  22. ahhh, bit much. If anyone spots a 2 seater 260Z for $3000-$5000 please post it up. Looks like I have a buyer for my mirage and I will need a daily driver until my real 260Z is finished and it would hurt to have a daily driver I can steal parts from
  23. how much was the 2 seater going for :classic:

I am thinking of buying a set of black M3 mirrors aith indicator for the 260Z pics can be seen here: http://www.ozeparts.com.au/AM3.asp?mirror=AM35050NEB#AM3 My reasoning is that i have removed the stock side indicator as I hated it and am thinking that some form of side indicator is worthwhile for both safety as well as perhaps roadworthy compliance issues. Negative points, I dont want to rice up the 260Z, but i hope the swooping lines of the mirrors may work in an understated black finish? Opinions
  25. You should also not that both a hoon and a bogan usually have cars that are prone to doors falling off and as such, they are often seen holding them in place as pictured above
