    Thanks but no thanks, I have already been through a big saga of a dodgy guy who sold me 240Z parts swearing they are bolt in replacements to 260Z parts, finding they werent he agreed to refund me but only gave me half and after 2 monthes of dodginess and lies I finally got the rest back this week by finding contact info and speaking to his parents

  3. Thanks for the offer but I have the 240, 260, 280 haynes already. I was just after/curious to see the 280zx too see if it is in any more detail and has any extras on the tacked on supplement for the 280Z in the haynes I have. :disappoin
  4. Anyone got or know one of these no longer needed. I just wanna skim over the engine and EFI and dont really wanna fork out another $50
  5. It does not run a surge tank and i will not copy the efi setup used exactly, but it is a much better base to me to build upon than a carbies car. It is a P90 head for sure, I had a P90 in the past which i sold too. Until i take the intake off I dont see how I can cheack the block, it should be a F54 but people like the swap L series motors around dont they :classic: So your saying the tail lights wont fit? I will make some measurements tonight or tomorrow. My control arms dont have sway bar mounts either, so I dont see any problem taking them from the 2+2 either?
  6. I wouldnt waste your time, decent batteries dont cost that much new anyhow. I bought a replacement a couple weeks ago for $65AUD I had an odyssey gel cell in my other car for 2 years when it finally died last month, I was never really impressed by it and when it finally died and i returned it, I found out why. For 2 years I had been using a faulty battery that was manufactured with 5 cells instead of 6......so it was doing pretty well considering. Gell cells are suppose to last around 10 years and can withstand being run flat many times.

  8. The rest of the car is nothing special at all, far from it. I bought it on the basis that it was cheaper that buying a P90/F54 motor, gearbox, 280zx EFI system, tail lights, odds and ends on their own. One front guard has a scrape you can make out in the picture. I just got it home so it is quite dark and corel is working over time making the black pictures visible :stupid:

  11. Im hopeful the 240 and 260z are different, as i know it is a bit of work fitting 240 lights to the 260? I can hope that nissan didnt go to the trouble of makin slightly different near identical parts :stupid:
  12. If you get a turbo L28 engineered with adequate brakes and emission tested, then would it still be "illegal" ?

    Has anyone shipped items from the US, im looking at turbo manifolds on EBAY, and possibly another P90 head. Any companies/procedures recommended or rough estimates on price from past experience? Thanks

  15. Do you think there is much difference between letting the car warm up idling for 5 minutes or just driving it babying it at low revs.
  16. I will take some photos for sure, I am already fairly committed to buying it and I have negotiated a good price. For some reason I cant find the block casting, the strange thing is that I have found it on carb'ed cars and I remember finding it on a 280zx, but I dont know how as the inlet manifold completey covers line of site to the exhaust ports/extractors. As a side note, how did all you guys gain experience with cars and mechanics. Was it by throwing yourself in the deep end like I am or did you have some sort of education/teaching. I think I am the only guy in the world that doesnt have uncle john the mechanic

We roll started the car in the drive way just to prove that it did in fact run due to the dead battery. after idling it for around aminute we had to shut it off before all the oil leaked from the suspect oil pressure sender. Next time I go I will check the oil, and top it up before I drive it. As for the radiator bubbles, Im not sure what you mean.
  18. Im just a bit worried about the condition of the motor and the quality and completeness of the EFI conversion from a 280zx, but I guess if it runs even after a roll start its a decent sign. I assume unless there is structural damage to the block or head then any problems can be fixed during a teardown and rebuild. Im no mechanic, im just picking everything up as I go along with these cars. Getting a bit off topic, I hope no one minds
  19. Well i have committed to buying it but the day I went to get it the battery was flat and it was going to be charged up over night. Today I went and there was oil all over the ground. The owner said he noticed a small leak around the oil pressure sender and took it off to look. The thread is stripped on it and it is leaking much more since taking it off to inspect it. A new item is $85 from nissan but i guess it will need to be done anyway. Its just making me nervous about the car, but I am hoping since I would rebuild the engine anyways, I am pretty safe? I have seen it running after a roll start and it look/sounds to be running ok aside from the oil leaking. The EFI wiring, computer, ancilliries, P90 head, hopefully F54 block, tail light, latches etc alone should make it worth the price alone I am trying to justify to myself. Opinions (especially on motor condition) ?

  22. Body is very shabby, but the EFI P90 L28 might make worthwhile....cant see the block casting under the intake manifold but Im ASSUMING F54 unless the head has been swapped.
  23. Does anyone know if the tail lights and door latches are identical between the 2?
  24. Thats the frame of mind I am in, with the 2+2 gear I should be able to get my shell at least operational. Sure a 2 seater is better, but a 2 seater with an EFI L28 aint anywhere in sight for $1k or less. Thanks

    Well, thats more like what I want to hear. The thing that gets me about my car is that I can never take it anywhere for professional opinion or work
