    Do you still are this?
  4. Dave, I found it helpful to make a template from cardboard, it’s kind of a funky shape and different on both sides.
  5. Thanks but outside my budget range! Sent from my iPhone using Classic Zcar Club mobile
  6. I’m open, turn key would be best but just really depends on the car. Sent from my iPhone using Classic Zcar Club mobile
  7. Everyone sees things differently, it was not the car for me. I will say however that I prefer a car with its original motor.
  8. Thanks, yes I took a look at this car 2 days ago.
  9. Ready to purchase my 2nd Z and am on the hunt for a 918- 240. Have been watching all the usual places Craigslist, EBay etc. If anyone has a lead, I would appreciate it.
  10. Awesome car and looking forward to more pics as you move along. Not trying to hi jack but wondering where you purchased the blue paint used on the block? I purchased the can in this pic from California Datsun. I attempted to capture my motor in the same pic but the paint is hard to see. The color appears to be the same as yours. My question for some of you guys, isn't this shade of blue darker than factory?
  11. Attended a car show in St. Augustine FL.
  12. Where did acquire the seats? I have this upgrade on my list and I am with you on the OEM seat costs!

    Interested in a 280z !
  14. Installed Dave Irwin’s parking light upgrade kit on my 77 280z, this also gives the dash lights a well needed boost! That’s the main reason I did this. Very easy to install, the most challenging thing is getting the power wire into the cabin. https://www.datsun-240z-upgrades.net/product-info/ Sent from my iPhone using Classic Zcar Club mobile
  15. I basically plagiarized from HazMatt's thread 280Z "Rustoration" My brackets were similar but not exact because I didn't cut down my air dam like he did. As I recall his was wavy on top so he removed that section. Mine on the other hand was very straight. I purchased my Euro turn signals from JDM car parts, they are Expensive.... Grill was straight from HazMatts thread basically a Frankenstein grill from a 240 combined with parts from a 280. Alternatively you can buy a $300 one from Skillard but I would have needed to hack it up to make way for the bumper brackets. A friend gave me the 240 grill.... The most frustrating thing was trying to find paint prep instructions or some agreement on what is the best solution for urethane part prep. I must have found 20 ways to do it, some contradicting the others. I finally just did what I thought would work. I've painted a number of bolt on parts and I wanted to do this as well. I already had the supplies so..... I trialed everything on a part of the air dam that wouldn't be seen and it worked great. Here is what worked for me if anyone cares to know. 1)Wash the part with a good quality car soap. 2) Scuff the part with Grey Scotchbrite and found some bad spots on the part. 3) For the bad spots I used 400 dry and then water sanded everything with 500. 4) Wash again 5) Used a plastic cleaner to wipe down. I was told by some to NOT used Wax and Grease remover because the part could retain some of the solvents and then push them back our under the paint. Some said use it....LOL I used the product pictured below (Pas-Stick), questionable as to its effectiveness. 6) 2 Coats of Bulldog paint adhesion promoter 7) Base Coat (2 cans) 8) Clear Coat. (3/4 can) I did everything with rattle cans. I have been buying paint from PaintScratch.com, they have factory color matched paint in rattle cans or for your spray gun. They also sell a catalyzed clear in a rattle can that is awesome. Additionally since I live near the Ocean in Florida I had my garage dehumidifier going as well. Temps were in the 80's and relatively low humidity for that day.
  16. I used the 240 grill with a 280 top bar, removed the 240 grill brackets, also made a center support that also pulls the grill back enough to clear the hood. I plagiarized from HazMatt's thread, copied some of his brackets as well but didn't cut a section of the air dam off like he did. As I recall his thread was 280Z "Rustoration" I thought about removing the indicator supports but ended up not doing this.
  17. I like the way they look but functionally they suck. The drive side is usable but I have yet to get the passenger angled correctly. The car originally had no passenger mirror so I’m not missing anything ... Sent from my iPhone using Classic Zcar Club mobile
  18. Front end is now complete. The Xenon, I was very impressed the the quality of the Xenon air dam. $141.00 on EBay shipped. IMG_0494.HEIC IMG_0499.HEIC

  20. I have a 280z that I installed a Fiberglass air-dam on along with 240 style bumpers. I have now decided that I would like to replace that fiberglass airdam with the Xenon one that uses the 240 turn signals. I have a number of questions for you guys that have done this. As we know this Xenon airdam will require bracing and I'm just looking for some ideas on the best way to go about that. I've already seen a few really crude ones on YouTube. I prefer to make it from aluminum because I live near the ocean and just want to keep it liteweight. Also looking for some cost effective decent looking means of modifying the grill to cover the old turn signal holes in the 280 grill. I know Skillard has a turn key piece but it's pricey at $300. Any advice on painting the Xenon? I'm pretty handy in the paint dept but have never painted using a flex agent. Any brand suggestions? Lastly, looking for a source for the Euro style clear turn signals. Have seen them on the JDM car parts site for $269, ouch! Is what it is I guess?? Thanks for any advice on this subject! Jay

The Watanabe caps I have found are 63mm (way too small). Then their are chrome 73mm (which you can paint black) In order to get these to fit you need to shave about 2mm off the inner hub. Sent from my iPhone using Classic Zcar Club mobile
