Make sure and get the car up high enough so that you can get the transmission out. I have an small fairly low profile jack that I made a plate for, then rolled it out. Alternatively you could pick up one of the little trans jacks from Harbor Freight. You will need to support the engine so make sure you have something below or above to provide support. Other than that it's pretty straight forward. If you plan on pulling the flywheel I would recommend going back with something lighter. I installed a standard steel unit that had 4-5 pounds shaved from it. It makes the car seem so much more lively and does not really compromise low speed modulation.

Has anyone out there seen or purchased a set of these "classic bucket seats" I am very skeptical of the quality given the low price point. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Black-PU-Faux-Leather-Classic-Bucket-Seat-With-Sliders-Mid-Sized-/282174169095

Awesome work!! I love the look of the competition seats. I have seen some in Asia that would cost approx 1k. Would you mind sharing your source for the seats? I’ve never actually sat in one of them so I wonder how they feel and how my frame would fit into them. I have factory seats with new foam and they are really uncomfortable as they are so hard. 5. Nardi Wooden steering wheel, 360mm, like new condition, comes with horn button and hub adaptor that fits Z cars. $320.00 OBO.
  6. I have developed a small leak in my transmission. It appears to be leaking from this point, the wires are wet, so I assume it is leaking internally and not from the threads. Has anyone else seen this and if so how did you address? Thanks!
  7. Probably my favorite build thread all time and I have plagiarized much of your work! $25k is super reasonable, would cost almost twice that much to build from scratch. Sent from my iPhone using Classic Zcar Club mobile
  8. Will look fine once you get those coil overs dialed.
  9. Looks nice, I like the color!
  10. I am running 225-50-15's, Kuhmo's. About $60 a tire, very happy with them.
  11. Edward welcome. Make sure and bring her down to Cars and Coffee at the Avenues Mall. We get great turnouts for these events. A number of Z guys usually come out. Nice car! And I'm partial to Silver! Jay- Ponte Vedra Beach

I have heard the term Dizzy used many times but must admit I don't know what component you are referring to. Please enlighten me!

Here is one of two of the brackets I cobbled together and bolted to the intake and the rail. Again probably overkill since six very short and fairly rigid injector hoses are there for support. Sent from my iPhone using Classic Zcar Club mobile

No drilling, you bolt can slide anywhere the length of the rail. I went to Home Depot and got some aluminum flat bar and made brackets that are attached to the factory fuel rail support points on the intake. I purchased the aluminum stock on eBay. Search Fuel Rail Datsun, they are there. Sent from my iPhone using Classic Zcar Club mobile

While it's overkill I used the AN fittings for my fuel lines, just liked the look.

Yes, this was one of my last changes I made after the clean up and simplification of the engine compartment. I used a piece of aluminum stock for my rail that has a channel in it for bolts. This simplified things when it came to making my support brackets And lining things up, no need to drill the rail for the brackets.

I did see your post and plagiarized! I spent about $60 on mine, minus the AN fittings, hose & FPR of course. Sent from my iPhone using Classic Zcar Club mobile

I wanted to purchase a fuel rail from Palnet but was unable to get in touch with him. I went ahead and started building up my own, I am very happy with the results. The motor in this car was a bit of a rats nest to start with but has come a long way. Here is a before and after.

  23. I will check my receipt from MSA when I get back in a couple days. It's just an air dam, no aftermarket grill, using the one that was on the car slightly modified. It has no built in bumper look. Sent from my iPhone using Classic Zcar Club mobile
  24. I purchased this one through MSA, I did not want the hassle of changing the location of the blinkers. This is a fiberglass model, the thing I don't link is that it is not flat up front, I say it looks like a buck tooth..LOL. Otherwise, install was straight forward and I've had it a year without incident. I did have to do a lot of prep work for a good finish though but believe that's the case with most of the fiberglass parts. I also installed the fiberglass 240 style bumpers.
  25. Very nice write up Dave, you always do a great job of documenting! I'm going to try the Polks up front. I currently have Pyles mounted in the same front kick plates like you have. As I recall, I was unable to stuff the boom mats backers behind the Pyles, just not enough room. I have the small Retrosound amp, Retrosound 6x9's in the back end and a powered JVC sub that is behind the passenger seat. I'm really please with the sound in the rear, the front is very sub par though.
