I know a guy selling some 240z carbs(dome tops) with original airfilter etc think he wants $250 for them(but i'll have to ask) . I can chase up if you want..(let me know)
  8. THe yearly leyburn sprints are on again...(in qld near toowoomba) I saw 7-8 240z / 260z's,,,some racing and some in the car park.. The standards where pretty good, I took some photos. One of the best and original 260z 2 seaters that ive ever seen was in the car park.. it number plate started with OZ----, anyone here?
  9. John has a good point..is your fuel tank vented properly? In another life I had a 200b SSS with twin su's and had the same thing happen(a few times)..and it turned out to be that the tank breather was blocked(which only played up when the fuel cap sealed properly).... it used to flood like a bitch!!!!
  10. Good to see another toowoombarite in the classic's. Did you see in the for sale section about the z for sale in queensland?-there is a discussion about keeping 240z's original ,,you should have a read( and mention your plans!) :tapemouth
  11. Never talk about religion, politics, ethics or Zcars... You'll always plss someone off!!!! LOL
  12. I've struck a nerve with some folks here( the oil painting line cracks me up--a 911 porsche is a oil painting) Firstly I said tastefull mods- not 6 speaker sound systems, cheap gear knobs or plastic steering wheels and tacty body kits...and junk like that(but there is exception for a modest, basic cd player) Tastefull mods include triple solex's/webers, bigger/different L Series motors ie L28(or big bore) , different wheels and of course autos converted to 5 speeds. Think about it...do you love the Zcar and are willing to drive it everyday everywhere, OR are you one of the people who only drive it on the weekends and are not going to use it as a REAL CAR, just to increase resale??? I'd admit if I bought a low number 240z, I wouldnt go out of my way to make it modified,,, BUT if it didnt have original airfilters/paint colour when i bought it, I wouldnt go out of my way to change it back to original either. I have noticed that a lot of modified 240/260z's have been sold cheaper then perfect original cars...but the modded ones seem to have had harder lives(perhaps they where actually driven and not just gararged??) As for modded examples have crappy resale.. does anybody here know what Ben Ellis's 240z with the twin turbo toyota 6 sold for?????????
  13. my 2c I'am not one that follows the whole concourse(is that spelt right) thing- nor do I follow the classic racing.(I do respect others that do) Because of this if I was in the market for a '70 240z and spending anything from $2000-$15000, I personally wouldnt give a toss if it had the original L24, or another L24 or a big bore L28. As long and the car itself was clean and neat I wouldnt care if it wasnt original(as long as any mods where tastefull!) ie aftermarket seats, wheels, diff etc I personally would opt for a zed with a L series motor, just because I really love the old things--with carbi's...they arnt as good as injection but they are wonderful for their simplicity and engineering...as-tec-tic-ly(cant spell) very pleasing enough babbling but my point is the these cars are still worth a BIG deal to people like myself when they have been changed from original,,(people dont be scared of changing bits of your ZED because you might hurt its resale,,IT WONT) the zed rules by itself and doesnt need a judge to say its crap because it doesnt have its originally ANYTHING.
  14. I only just put electric ignition on my 260z today...(It was points) Basicly I used a 2.4l dizzy(off a 80's skyline) and a "procomp" ignition box- it converts the magnetic pulse from the dizzy to a signal that works the coil and a new epoxy type coil. It works great ie starts easier, revs quicker, nice steady idle.. BUT.. the tacho works ok at idle BUT at around 3500-4000 it goes nuts and jumps around -jump to 2000 and flicks around everywhere. It used to work with the points setup. I read some where that a 280z tacho would work BUT I'am in Australia and no 280zs here! any ideas??
  15. Does anyone know if its sold?-- the 240z in brissy ..that is

I'am very impressed by how clean the metal is in the photos- what did you use to get all the sound deadner off????? I'am spraying my floor(inside car) with "cold gal", which paints on a layer of zinc over the bare metal/surface rust(thats previously been treated with rust converter)-then I was going to paint it with sound deadner. Fingers crossed it with keep the rust away!

I'am also interested in the fibreglass guards/nosecones/bonnet.. do they mount up like standard ones? I need rust repair sections for both bottom front guards, and the sills-ie about 30cm in front of the wheel and the whole sill behind the wheel. Do you do the front crossmember-ie the one that the horns are bolted to? all bits for 260z 2+2 I'amin toowoomba so frieght shouldnt be to scarey can you please PM the prices
