I think the vibration was noted in the Q4 testing in North America. @Kats noted this from his research and friends who where there in 1969: P.S. I attached this file"report of test drive in the U.S. by Mr.Osawa"I will interprit this some day.But a little bit.. "...Vibration from the steering compornent and car shaking from the rear differencial unit was a big problem we had been considering. Thanks for the entire staffs related those kind of section, they paid a lot of efforts. As the results we managed to built [refined 240Z with advanced parts].The refined 240Z arrived by air on Dec 20th 1969,NMC checked and gave "satisfaction"to the car.But still there is a sensitive phenomenon of tire balance(choice?)"

Thanks Alan. Learned something new and hoovered two pictures And the strangest participant of the tournament: the Nissan team, which brought a model Z-432-R of 230 HP, which was piloted by Haruito Yanagida and Masami Kuwashima. At the time, it was not even known in Brazil who was Nissan: traveling thousands and thousands of miles, at great cost, with no obvious marketing objective, seemed at least curious. And to make matters worse, the Japanese arrived late and only disputed two events. Since the little car appeared in Europe, or in the United States (at the time the brand was known as Datsun in the US), Brazil's choice was certainly unknown.

  5. A light oiling of steel parts (lids, hardware, and linkage) and place in a bag. Keep indoors at room temperature.
  6. The thermostat housing changed many times over the years. The early ones only have one small bung on the front and none on the side.

"The nail that stands-up......GETS POUNDED DOWN" Communism 101 .... all of my Chinese colleagues said this.
  8. unplug the throttle valve switch connector (on the side of the throttle valve. If your rpm's come back then the TVS is not clocked correctly or it is shorted internally or the wiring to it is shorted.

Wing mirrors would be very helpful in some instances https://youtu.be/zAw_Y3Y7eKk?t=1158
  10. Coleman Stove Naptha sometimes works. Remember Chem 101: "Like dissolves like"
  11. You should be able to just flip that moustache bar around. No need for a new one.
  12. It looks like a 240z R180 in the video. Have a look at the back shape and fill hole location to help.
  13. I think the confusion may be due to the bigger R200 differential needing the moustache bar flipped like yours:

How did he deal with the early crankshaft vibration in spring of 1970 and did it cause a DNF?
  15. Common restoration niggle: Moustache Bar needs to be flipped. Welcome to the club! This will push the differential forward and provide clearance at the rear cross bracket.
  16. When you go to CNN.com, ~95 other websites or processes start up and your browser is overloaded. I checked other news sites and BBC loads the least. Try loading each of these websites below to see the difference of an old school site with no BS spy/analytics/snooping crap...even with lots of images it is faster. http://240260280.com/Tech/Carbs/Weber/DCOE Theory Operation and Tuning.html https://www.cnn.com/ The internet is dead.
  17. I recall seeing ratios for exhaust to intake ~67% for some reason. I may have averaged racing head data in this book long ago:
  18. Survival of the fittest squeaky wheel. Affirmative political correctness: It is much easier to be the best than it is to be selected for being the best. I was at a party on Friday where I met a west African who was celebrating her Canadian residency approval with her girlfriend. She told me about her funded research into the feelings of gay men who are offended by a blood donor questionnaire that highlights the risk of HIV. No we were not smoking anything... it is truly a strange world nowadays.
  19. It is a very strange world. Darwin would be puzzled for sure.
