Hmmmm this is becoming circular. In what markets were these pistons fitted? I have not seen in the USA or CDN markets? Early FSM shows what we typically get on L24

Were the flycut pistons in Euro cars or were they Nismo parts? We don't really see these in stock pistons in NA. Here is Nov 1971 HS30 Sports Option Parts document excerpt showing fly cuts (B):
  4. Thanks Alan! That is great news. Please say hi to him.
  5. The site Ai says his last visit was April 10. Does anyone keep in touch? I sent some PMs but no replies yet.

0.70mm is what I used for "squish" in an engine build tool... nice to have a real world limit! THANKS!

I recall seeing different top surfaces on L28 pistons but not L24. The stock fly cuts are new to me.

You will need to measure the diameter of the piston. 83mm is stock.

    OK found them. H2716 are NA 1973 240z 1mm over pistons, H2711 are stock NA 1973 240z pistons. http://datnissparts.com/x-1973-240z-l24-oe-oversize-cast-pistons-1-0mm-040-84-0mm-12010-h2716-set-of-6-also-fits-l26-l16/

Thanks Alan, So these are to similar the H2711 1973 pistons as mentioned in the TSB book? Are they from Euro or other market Nissans?

I have not seen valve reliefs in stock L24 pistons so those may be for high valve lift applications. (i.e. from NISMO catalogue part)

Please take more photos for us. It is rare to see an early Z that has been unmolested. These photos help us greatly in the accuracy of our restorations so they are very much appreciated ? More close-ups in the engine compartment, the fire wall area, the area between the bumper and the radiator, up under the dash, etc... THANKS!

It would be best to get a 70 or 71 donor and be as accurate as possible. This may eventually be a $20k difference.

Do you want to keep it? If so, pick away at the clean-up and make repairs using early Z parts. If not, flip it now for a great reward.

It looks like you also have the rare hatch glass with no defrost wires ? Does you Z have the smog pump?

Great Photos. Big Thanks! You have the rare red dot mirror and plastic fuel door lid ? Here is a pic from @26th-Z that shows where the hand throttle cable connects to the gas pedal at the very top. It is seen just a bit higher than your photo

I'd like to see a photo of the mirror knob. Early ones have a red dot. It would be interesting to see if 664 had this. Also a picture of the fuel door lever. Early ones had a plastic knob. Finally a photo of the top of the gas pedal (metal end way up). Early z's had a cable attached that ran to a fast idle lever in the console (the missing one next to the choke lever). It was removed for safety regulations... perhaps the cable is still there?

Beautiful. Not sure if anyone mentioned but your cars is worth big $$$$ being so early. Please post as many pictures as you can! It is exciting to see another early Z pop up!
  24. Quick and dirty. Drain tank and fill with new gas.
