  1. Put a super magnet on bottom of oil pan.
  2. Great stories guys...one more warning.... don't put a spoiler on the back or it will amplify your light front end problem!!! Probably end up doing 210kph on back two wheels! Bart will get sick ?
  3. If your car is stock, you will need to add an air dam on front to control lift at high speeds. That is why they developed the G-nose. You are a brave driver!
  4. James is very capable and will have the car running sooner than later ? It is very impressive what he has already done to the car.
  5. Top open hole in picture is for throttle control for emissions. The other is for PCV and a hose connects it to the crank case vent. Cap it for now. Deal with these minor things after you are tuned.
  6. Nope. Disconnect choke cables for now an whip them out of the way until you are tuned. They are trouble, You want to turn jet knobs all the way up then turn down ~ 3 turns. Loosen the fast throttle screw so it is not pushing linkage Disconnect push rod in middle and let each throttle valve rest on its stop. Turn stops until they just disconnect from pushing valve open... then give each 1.5 turns. You have to verify mechanical timing AND then verify you have a spark at the plugs when cranking
  7. PM me your phone number and I can walk you through getting it going. You seem to know what you are doing!
  8. Cap all holes to the manifold... the two you show absolutely.
  9. I love Nak!

Could it be from a Datsun truck or Subaru?

I could only find TonyD mention on HybridZ about max velocity and differential. He may know: I can't find any else. yet

35/11 = 3.18 That would be lovely for highway cruising. Are you selling it?
  14. Hoovered a few more for fun

I've used the copper spray on every head gasket I installed with no problems.. even on lawn mowers and snow blowers. Belts and braces when ever possible.
  16. Hoovered another.

I enjoy the comradery here. A great bunch of misfits.... all of us! ?
  18. Yes it is simpler on SU's with a clear tube and 20mm. I used the water tower method on triple Webers to improve precision and balance. SK Racing and Mikuni have adjustable float height with is best solution.

For a full rebuild, shimming is not needed when you have access to tensioner and chain guides.
  20. I did the calculations a while ago for a test rig using a column of water. The pressure down on needle to open it vs density for floating to close the needle was approximately the same ratio as if you used a column of gasoline or water of the same length. The heavier water column pushes needle valve more, but the denser water also pushes the float up with more pressure than gas. Maybe someone else can double check this to validate.

Alan, some are very interesting points. Thanks! With respect to the recordings and recollections of events 50 years ago. Nissan is on record on their web site quoting Bob Sharp that HLS30-00006 was desired at the NYC Auto Show " I saw my very first Z car-a green one-at the New York Coliseum auto show ". Both Nissan and the Bob Sharp quote are in error. I will assume Bob was referring to the Oct 69 event rather than the April 70 Coliseum event as clarified by @gnozez who asked Bob about this. Likewise the photos of Ginza and the press driving event are a little uncertain as to the cars and locations of the photos. Since the COMPANY and CAR OWNER's are in error, how the heck are we to figure it out except by making reasonable assumptions...thus I stand by HLS30-00006 being coloured green and at the Oct show, and by having found 50% of the publicly known images of that car in 1969!!! As a request, and I'm sure many others here would welcome the info, could you please use your resources, knowledge, connections, and language abilities to find out about the cars HLS30-00009, 10, 11, and 12 as well as the test car flown to the USA in . Dec1969? We seem to know about all of the LHD early birds except these 5. Many thanks!

This area is weakest link. Red lines are leak paths:

I would fill those pits with something as they are outside of the piston sealing region but would make a nice "chain of lakes" for coolant to leak. Some JB Weld to fill and a flat to knock down would do the trick. I'd rather have some micro bumps rather than the big pits.

I guess the USA promotion would have been in line with the past items like Silva, 510, etc. in the USA. We do not see much of that as well but we know it happened.
