My weekly rant. Premature Parts Death Plague
Mainland China Govt's big plan.... the drug dealer methodology.... get the world addicted to low cost junk and corner the supply.... our local Govt's are the pushers and we are the addicts. I could see this coming since the 90's with the WTO entry and all the cheap and dangerous kids toys and telescopes flooding the market place.... just like the illegal invasion of Iraq in 2003, you could see it well before the train wreck happened.... it is still sad times when the Russians can take down a jet, Saudi's can take out a Journalist and no one blinks but rather changes the channel to the Kardashians.

Hitachi TM-1081-ZB Radio Repair Thread
Good news! It was the op-amp Hitachi FA-6007T that died. I'm not sure if there are any other Hitachi radios using this early bird? FYI a quick and dirty test of the audio section is to simply touch pin 1 and the radio should hum.

Weber selection and initial jet tuning
Yes. For higher compression engines, less maximum electrical timing is needed. For mechanical valve event timing, moving the cam timing (at sprocket) to #1 position may help breathing and give you more WOT HP. ?

Well the 2SB337 power transistors work fine. I swapped modules and the problem did not move. Next will be the OP-Amp.

Weber selection and initial jet tuning
Did the Dyno use a wideband? It would be interesting to compare. I wonder where you can get 5 more HP?

Weber selection and initial jet tuning
Weird, I was just thinking of you and this earlier today. Must have been ths Z FORCE. 195RWHP is F'n AWESOME!!!!! For the high RPM scatter, usually a distributor refresh with lube can help the high end. Sometimes the spindle teeth meshing with the worm on crank snout cause timing variation at high rpms according to Frank Honsowetz. He recommends brass teeth. Also it could be poor electronic components in the Pertronix.

Hitachi TM-1081-ZB Radio Repair Thread
Thanks for the great advice and support! I still have a scope.(I used to have access to signal generators 30 years ago too). For this, I have just been lazy and have not pulled the scope out yet. I'm lucky and have another radio that works so I should be able to compare voltages and signals through the system. If I can find an FM to AM converter then I will have a 24/7 input source as there are no AM stations here anymore. ? I think I found a supplier for the very old Hitachi Op Amp but I will scope out rather than throw a grenade and replace. The voltages on the Darlington array match the schematic so I am hoping it is ok. Please post a link to your radio upgrade to this thread to help others!

Hitachi TM-1081-ZB Radio Repair Thread
Hi All, My early Hitachi radio functions nearly 100% except for the audio output stage. I get a speaker thump when turning on but no static or sound. The volume and tone controls make no changes to the silence. I just replaced all caps and no change. I found the cap C38, which decouples the power amp transistors from the speakers, to be toast and the PO seems to have hooked up two speakers to the output. I am now starting to investigate deeper. The voltages on the power transistors are normal however I am getting ~230ohms across the input winding of the audio transformer T7 feeding the power stage from the Hitachi FA-6007T op amp. I'll check against my working radio. Here are some pictures of cap replacement to help others. I also included the service manual (thanks to @hr369 and @JDMjunkies.ch) ? Sadly there are no AM radio stations in this area so trouble shooting RF stages will be is tough. Hopefully it is just a problem in the audio stage. Mainland Chinese quality parts inside? Glad you don't repair passenger jets or surgical equipment with that $^!#. Don't buy a Kia or Hyundai, they are from S Korea but loaded with those $^!# parts.... and if you are lucky, they will spontaneously combust.

Photos: Just cleaned with damp cloth. I did not do the following in case purchaser wishes to do so or if they wish me to do so: Silver paint can be touched up. Yellowed window can be cleaned clear. Replace blue spliced wire with fuse and choke Repair spliced 2nd speaker modification connection (black wire tail) It works 100%. Pots and switches were cleaned with Caig Deoxit and all moving parts cleaned and re-lubricated with correct silicon lube.
