I had the exact feeling in my 71. I added a larger MSA sway bar and the spook spoiler which solved the floating feeling at and specially around large trucks. Your toe in setting can improve it some also. Don's iPhone using Classic Zcar Club mobile

My understanding is that the percent variance between 79-80 and the 7/80- 6/83 is only 3%. Doesn't seem like, it would make a big enough difference in front of a 3.70 diff, to the extra cost to find one.
