  1. While searching the site for Vapor Lock I could not find any mention of the effect of high altitude. I have experienced what I think was “vapor lock” on my 240 that is running SUs with a manual pump (New in last 30 days). In both cases it was at altitudes of 5000’ and 4500’. In both cases shortly after spirited driving at higher RPM (4K-5K) and then slowing down to RPM of 2-3K. The engine would seem to run out of gas. Checking the filter showed fuel available. Fuel line from pump to carb was dry. 2 hours later and coasting down it started and ran fine for the next 150 miles home. In 25 years of driving a 240 I have never experienced this (Vapor Lock) before. Is it the extra engine heat by driving hard? The fact boiling temperature is reduced at altitude. Do electric pump cure this from happening?
  2. One of the problems with old SUs is the butterfly shaft bushings get worn and leak. Z therapy replaces them with roller bearings instead of brass bushings. Good luck though and post up your journey.
  3. I got 20” from center. The 240 has a muffler hanger bracket directly above the outlet pipe of the muffler. I offset forward in the car to tighten up the exhaust pipes he makes. are putting on a resonator it made mine a little more pleasant. But still nasty on WOT between 4K and 7k.
  4. Don’t know if these will help, hard to measure with only two hand a phone and a tape. I can try later with a micrometer. Let know.
  5. I have wondered for a long time if these sales all close or do some fall through? Is there an out for the buyer? anyone have any knowledge about that?
  6. Not really when out in the open. I couldn’t back it out of the garage as the gas tank is getting refurbished.
  7. I cleaned the rust off and soaked in rust release chemical. I then used a chrome paint by rustoleum. Put in LEDs. I am really happy with them.
  8. I am in the middle of a fuel tank refresh. Tank is out to Rad shop for cleaning and coating. Meantime I am checking my sending unit and gauge reading. Do these pictures of the gauge reading look right at max float and min float levels travel with the sending unit? what else should I do? Hoses are 4 years old. Ran a can of carb cleaner through the supply and blew it out. How many gallons does your tank hold?
  9. I have used “Oil Eater” for years. You can order it through Costco in gallon Jugs or 5 gallon pail. Spray it on let it sit and then spray it off with water. Use a brush for hard spots. I also use Gojo on a rag on my engine bay.
  10. You should have a red light on the black box that tells you when the charge is sent. This greatly affect your timing. I recommend that you get the engine to TDC. Make sure you check it to make sure you have the piston right. Hopefully the timing Mark is now at zero. then make sure the rotor at the number one wire. Everything should be ready. Then move the crane pick until it lights. Now rotate the engine one more time to make sure the light comes on just as the rotor is coming on the number 1. Here is a link to the directions. https://static.summitracing.com/global/images/instructions/xr700 instructions.pdf On mine I start at 7 degree BTDC and adjust from there checking vacuum advance and idle. Adjust the valve, check the plug gap and then on the the carbs. good luck. I cane provide photos if needed
  11. What did you mean when you said “electronic Ignition “. What is it and did you install it?
  12. Not mine but maybe worth checking them out if you need some https://seattle.craigslist.org/tac/pts/d/tacoma-datsun-240z-red-seats/7134819249.html html
  13. I have run my SUs without a tube attached for 15+ years. Do not plug them.
  14. For sure get the windshield and hatch rubber directly from Nissan. You will pay more but happy in the long run.

    Clutch Issue

It would be helpful if you would provide a history of work completed since last in working order. Did you replace your clutch?
  16. Speaking of door panels, I am going to try to salvage the ones I have, but I saw the $419 set on ZCarDepot yesterday. Pricey. Has anyone had experience with those? I have a set of Zcar Depot panels and was very impressed. One of the better thing I purchase for this car. PM me if you want more information
  17. "What I discovered after looking on their website is that they show the parts available but when you call they tell you otherwise. " I have had good luck with the local dealer. But I have to give them the part number because their current system does not look up the part number for older cars.
  18. Can’t answer question but a 100 is so cheap you should bye able to get all or most back if you decide you don’t like them.
  19. Back when I first got my first Z it had an issue with a few tears and broken down bolsters. I took it to a shop who removed the covers and did small repairs plus built up the bolsters. Made a big difference. It maybe another option for you. love the White/red colors don
  20. Finally got back to your posts. I am interested in seeing how you handle how the header fits with your SU’s. I had to abandon mine after seeing how close the header fit to the hose on the bottom of the rear SU..
  21. I have the MSA front and rear sway bar coupled with Tokico lowering springs along Ilumina shocks. I run my shocks on the softest setting. I think it rides good but does not like pot holes or speed bumps.
