Installed the Skillard rear diffuser today. It does a good job of bringing it all together I believe. I was not too happy with the way that area looked bare, especially with the Zstory muffler. If I spent as much on phones as I did on car parts I might actually get a decent picture of it all.

My mistake for posting the link for the 1 ton, as i sit here 3:00Am pacific time with my coffee before work. For sure the 2 ton is the best option, disregard the link for the 1 ton.

So I'm sure you are doing what you are doing because you don't have an engine hoist or an engine stand, but doing any internal bottom end work is way easier with the engine out of the car. I'm not trying to imply that you don't know what you're doing. I have one of these and my friends and I have put it through the ringer for the past several years. It's held up pretty well. Call it a cost of restoring a car. https://www.harborfreight.com/automotive/lifts-cranes-stands/1-ton-capacity-foldable-shop-crane-61858.html

I just went through a severe pull to the right condition with my ZX. Ended up being the right caliper and the brake flex lines. It still wants to pull to the right even after new calipers and flex lines. But I suspect the alignment is a bit off as the brakes are cool to the touch even after lengthy freeway drives. Plus I have coilovers.

I got these for the front of my ZX last week and they seem to be working so far. Only about 150 miles on them so who knows if they'll last. Just went on a 75 mile drive this morning with no issues. most of the problems I was having was in relation to the flex lines failing internally causing the calipers to drag. The stock front calipers were pitted in the cylinder bores so I replaced them. https://www.autozone.com/brakes-and-traction-control/brake-caliper-front/p/duralast-brake-caliper-19-b154/565598_0?rrec=true

Z's on BAT and other places collection

An F54 that is in a kit car of some sort with a automatic trans. Maybe not abused. Seller has video of it running. https://seattle.craigslist.org/tac/pts/d/lakewood-datsun-280zx-f54-complete/7452089062.html -
Thanks. The front are 15x8 zero offset, and the rear are 15x9 -15 offset. I have 1'' wheel spacers on both the front and rear with 225\50\R15 on all 4. Doesn't rub and I didn't have to roll the fenders.

After an absurd amount of time and a thousand kid car washes later, I finally decided on some Rota RKR's. Money well spent I believe. Now if I'd sort out how to do body work and paint I'd have a nicer car haha.

Arguably one of Canada's finest exports. If I had to pilot a spacecraft I cant imagine anything else i would bring with me

Yeah yours is better than mine was. Wish I could find pictures. At least the weather stays out of it now. My frame rails and body panels are still pretty rough. It's got the drivetrain and suspension of a 21 year old sailor on liberty in Bangkok and the body of a geriatric haha.

So I ended up getting this free ZX from Craigslist, expecting it to be a total pile, but actually it's not too bad. It has less rust and body damage than my car did when I started out with it many years ago. Too bad there's no title because it wouldn't bee too much to get it on the road. I have enough sitting in my garage to do it. The trunk does this wild thing where it stays open with these shock absorber looking things instead of a broomstick or a pair of vice grips. I'll have to research that a bit further. No transmission. Originally no engine but the guy ended up giving it to me after a bit of talking about Z cars. Great guy. The engine looks to be suffering from a few poor color choices and more importantly, a missing rocker arm and a lose rocker arm that went off the rails. Looks like they might have ran it that way because the cam has been eaten up a bit. Too bad.

It's a shame they always throw wheels into a pile to be never matched up or sometimes never even make it out of the back where you can't go. I'm not far from there I'll try and swing in to see what's there. I'm actually going to pick up a free parts ZX today but thats in Edmonds the opposite direction from where I'm at.

https://seattle.craigslist.org/sno/pts/d/edmonds-free-yes-free-pretty-datsun/7445301020.html A free ZX no motor. I'll try and get it for parts but I'll almost guarantee someone's on their way to pick it up as I type this -
Yeah every time I start an engine for the 1st time with a timing chain cover that's been off for any reason I get a little scared. Like mentioned, getting the bolts in the right holes is critical. Also making sure you have RTV, both Black and the coolant type(for water pump), in the prescribed spots.

You can get a program for your computer called AVG Breachguard. It's about $20.00 a year. It has a function, among other things, that's called "Personal Info Remover". Once you activate it, the company sends requests to a great many of the companies out there that are responsible for gathering and selling your data. I'm sure they aren't above Google, but it sure has curtailed the amount of spam I receive either in e-mail or phone call form.

I'm pretty sure our stock flywheels are single mass. So when you replace it with a lightweight single mass I believe it is not supposed to make more noise. However, I replaced my stock flywheel with the Fidanza one, had it all balanced, and now I have a bit more chatter in the transmission. Perhaps my transmission is a bit worn? Not sure, but it shifts good, doesn't wine at speed or have any noticable problems. Just a bit more noise. Now after 4,000+ miles I don't notice it.

Yes in Washington you just bring the license plate to the Dept. of licensing office and depending on how bad of a day the cashier is having they just re register the car with the vintage plates you brought in. They just have to be the same plate design that would have been issued the year that the car was built. My car ia an '80ZX, but these plate numbers likely would have been issued in the 1970's.

There's a good chance that the water pump bolts have either already been broken by a previous owner, or will break as you are removing them. It's not that big of a deal if you break one, they aren't terribly hard to remove, especially with the engine on a stand and not in the car. I would go ahead and replace the head gasket and timing chain while the engine is out. The book that Siteunseen mentioned is the way to go for sure. I had never done it before and used that book. Made perfect sense and I'm no real veteran at this stuff. If setting the cam timing is your biggest worry, that book makes it plain and clear. Plus there's lots of threads on here about it, and if you get stumped, folks are happy to help.

Pulling My Engine, Need Second Opinion
Reptoid Overlords replied to Muzez's topic in Engine & Drivetrain
You'll get it, and it sure is nice to be able to clean up the engine bay. On a side note, I used to live in the Ravenswood neighborhood near Irving Park and lawrence in the mid to late '90's. I worked at that Sears on the 1900 block of Lawrence delivering TV's and such. Sometimes i miss the place. -
Thanks, I'll bet it's something like that. Too bad its coming apart, I'm not sure I'll be able to tend to it without splitting the tank in two. Those are great little bikes! I run my CT90 about twice a week in the winter and regularly to work in the summer, only 8 miles from my house. Mostly for fun but now that gas doesn't seem to be going below $4.00 a gallon here it's nice to get 90+MPG. Premium only in the Z gets it driven about twice a week too if it's lucky.

I found some debris in the fuel tank of my old Honda CT90 Trail motorcycle. Time to clean the carb and fuel tank. After trying to clear out the tank, I found that it has some sort of coating that is coming apart and getting into the fuel system. No big deal, I have a parts bike with a good tank that does not have this. I bought the bike in question from the original owner who bought it new in '72. He never said anything about coating the tank, and I've never coated one to know what it looks like. Can anyone tell what this is? The stock tank is just steel on the inside and outside.

I couldn't find where EGR was discussed in the new to me 280z thread. Was it on another forum? Nice car by the way. Deleting the EGR and catalytic converter from my '80ZX were one of the 1st things I did to it. Were you wanting to know what equipment and lines to delete? Or just whether or not the deleting it can have a negative impact? I don't really think it has any adverse effects.
