  1. ahh that's the one I was thinking i had but couldn't remember the name.. pretty sure I have the xenon then
  2. I'm not sure which one I have but if I had to guess it's the middle pair. I'll know tonight. Do you have an extra of the one right set?
  3. It could be that or a ZX transmission possibly, right? The pics I posted of the marks were after I cleaned them... they had some fluid in the mark when I pulled the rod out, which leads me to believe it's still hitting Sent from my iPhone using Classic Zcar Club mobile
  4. I bought the Z with this air dam already installed. I don't think it's from BRE, though... if I had to guess it came from MSA - and I'm sure it came black Agreed i like the black air dam look http://www.bre2.net/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=B&Category_Code=bre_datsun_body_parts Sent from my iPhone using Classic Zcar Club mobile
  5. exactly... I've thought about that because they were a limited production run. and so unique with the digital dash / t-tops, etc. The car was pretty quick too! if the frame is too far gone I could part it out and/or even use the turbo L28 /T5 / rear diff in my Z. plus black interior 280ZX parts are a premium
  6. after dinner and a couple beers it shifted into 5th fine... maybe i just muscled it in there with some liquid courage and didn't baby it
  7. A little bit - mine was dark brown with tan interior and rear louvers.. other than that it's a 1 for 1 Match. I really want to get it and get the frame fixed then sit on it and let the value appreciate Sent from my iPhone using Classic Zcar Club mobile
  8. i'll try the grinding method tomorrow with a buddy who's got the right equipment. hopefully we can knock those old bushings out as well and press the new ones and pin in while we're at it. at least two variables are eliminated. thanks for everyone's help!
  9. Removed the rubber that was at the bottom of the shift rod and took it out for a spin - same result - popped back into neutral Sent from my iPhone using Classic Zcar Club mobile
  10. Front Rear Sent from my iPhone using Classic Zcar Club mobile
  11. Yea I've done it before... guess I'll pop it off (afraid of losing that dang clip!) Sent from my iPhone using Classic Zcar Club mobile
  12. This rubber at the bottom of the shifter is throwing me off... the left side (driver side) doesn't interfere with the C-housing but the right side does Also, is the gold cotter pin forward of the shifter suppose to move when you move the shifter? 13. So I took all the boots off and everything and it shifted into 5th the first try around 55 mph. Tried it again 4 times after that and it popped back - some more violent than others. I notice the left side of the shift area is smooth, but anything to the right (5th and reverse) you have to force the shifter to the right a little bit and after it pops its smooth Sent from my iPhone using Classic Zcar Club mobile
  14. All good reasons - thanks Sent from my iPhone using Classic Zcar Club mobile
  15. i don't even have the inner shift boot on the left! I'm guessing that one provides some volume inside the outer shift boot so that the outer boot doesn't interfere with the shifter...
  16. will do tonight! T minus 4 days until the Loco Coyote run with Cowtown Z Club - need to get this gear figured out.
  17. here's his feedback on the frame damage... i asked him specifically what was wrong with the frame since he apparently has a quote to fix it, but no response. i know the unibody frame can be pulled and straightened, but hopefully it's nothing that bad
  18. no joke - that's a legit workshop
  19. i was also thinking it might be the boot because I added those shift boot clips to hold the leather boot in place and thinking when it tightened the boot it might be interfering with 5th gear and the long reach. so you'd recommend removing the leather boot AND the rubber boot? or just the rubber boot? No, does not clunk in 5th and no other gears clunk either
  20. yea i remember having those knicks on my shifter when i took it out and looked it over..
  21. Awesome Zed Head - thanks for the response. That's the plan - just was hoping it wasn't real serious Sent from my iPhone using Classic Zcar Club mobile
  22. sent them a message asking about the frame damage... and he did confirm it has a clean title
  23. Hi all - I noticed when i bought my Z three months ago it was tough to shift into 5th gear... either the gear was hard to find, or the shift once the gear engaged was a little rough. I thought this was due to sloppy shifter pin and bushings - I've bought new but yet to replace (need some special tools to knock old bushings out and press new in). A couple weeks ago, I shifted into 5th and went to release the clutch and it popped the shifter back into neutral. Since then, I can shift into 5th at lower speeds and RPM's, but not during hard acceleration. same result, pops the shifter back into my hand and into neutral. Is it a synchro issue? Or could it be something bigger? Thanks in advance.
  24. how about $800 I'm still in the early phases of my research - need to price everything out and see if it's something i really want to do to my Z (I'm pretty sure it is) MSA and Redline sell some kits that include everything (gaskets, etc). I would also need to get these rebuilt. Redline also offers a warranty. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Weber-DCOE-Kit-fits-Datsun-240Z-260Z-280Z-Triple-Performance-40-DCOE-K659-/331133982952?hash=item4d191f98e8:g:6e8AAOxycD9TWBMb&vxp=mtr thanks for checking those specs!
  25. hey site - are these still available or did they sell? I'm looking into a carb conversion for my L28 - and looking at Weber 40's
