wide ratio FS5W71B slipping out of 3rd & 4th
I got that out but it took all day and ended up drilling out the bolt with a 90 degree drill it was horrible work other people have wedged blocks in there and knocked the bolt out but I didn’t have that luck. It’s basically a wedge pin like on the spindle pins Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

does this look like 918 to you?
Whenever there is a does this look like this color thread it’s almost impossible to tell unless your there standing next to it, your camera takes at one color setting, your phone or laptop views it at another color setting, your brain interprets it at whatever it wants. I always say if it looks right to you it is what it is because that might not be the same color to me Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

78 280z ignition coil
I am trying to figure out what coil to use. The 78 doesn’t have the ballast resistor so is it the 1.5ohm or 3.0ohm I am looking at the pertronix coils. The verbiage is confusing because there is no stock ballast resistor Factory Electronic Ignition: 1974 and later Z's with original ignition should use this 1.5 Ohm coil as opposed to the PerTronix 3.0 Ohm coil, and also should retain the stock ballast resistor. I think that half shaft must be a spare or something I am not sure why that picture is there, you can see in some of the other pictures the half shafts look clean and painted Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Timing plates issue
I found the answer the 280zx timing plate just goes onto a different hole and used some sort of metal stand off tube with a longer bolt as seen here you can see that hole in my pictures to the top left of my timing plate Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Timing plates issue
So I learned something. The 280zx timing plate does not fit on the 280z front cover it’s too long. So yeah who knew there was a different front for later engines. I guess the moral of the story is if you have the smaller damper you need to use the small timing plate along with an earlier year front cover. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Oil pan paint
Ok these are all good points I might have to dip because getting into the bottom part of the pan with a wire wheel is going to be difficult Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Arizona Z Emissions Check?
I am in Maricopa county I have Grundy classic car insurance for my 78 I have never had my car to the mvd or to emissions check but maybe I didn’t need an inspection because my title was transferred to me in state. Check out desertdatsuns.net that’s a local group with a good amount of datsuns of all sorts Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Timing plates issue
I guess if both plates align at 0 that’s good enough because you can use a timing light with the dial adjuster but good point about after market pulleys Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Timing plates issue
Great now I need to figure out where my damper pulley is from. I just measured it and based on what I read I must have a 280z pulley because it’s about 5.5” and it looks like the later 280zx were 7” in diameter Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Timing plates issue

Timing plates issue
I have the 280zx f54 block but a front cover from a 280z with the 280z timing plate on it and never really thought about it but do the numbers line up to the same? Or should I get a 280zx plate? I have the p79 head also if that matters I can’t tell but it looks like the 0 would be on different spots 280z timing plate 280zx timing plate Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
