  1. When I put my car back on the road in 2017 after a long nap I cleaned and lined my tank and replaced all rubber fuel lines with E85 rated Gates lines. My carbs were refurbed by Z-Therapy. I contacted them about E fuel and they said they've seen no trouble in their soak testing. I do have access to ethanol free 91 octane so that's what I run and will run as long as I can in my Z and my wife's truck. Many local Maverik's also sell ethanol free 88 octane. I also use the ethanol free for all my yard equipment. One of the big things I notice is how much easier things start when using ethanol free gas.
  2. I only have the urethane air dam and no rear spoiler. My experience before the air dam was that the front end starts to "feel light" at 85-90 MPH. With the air dam it feels much more stable at even 100+ MPH.
  3. I'm a short timer, only been around here since 2017. I think I was originally on IZCC (#2831) back in about the 1999 time frame and then updated my IZCC info in 2017 when I got my current 240Z back on the road after it had a ~14 year nap in my garage. I have been a continuous 240Z owner since 07/20/1973 when I bought my '73 240Z.
  4. I thought this was a change and the early carbs had the same needle valves front and rear. Don't know if the change was implemented at the same time the carbs went from 4 to 3 screw. Of course I may be up in the night. 🤪
  5. Yes, Hill AFB is still active. The f16's have been replaced with f35's. I golf on a course that is just on the east side of Hill, man those planes are loud but very fun to watch. There's a gal that heads up the f35 demo team and what a gas to watch when she's out practicing! I do know how hot you get in the summer. I've had flights delayed out of Phoenix because of heat making the air too thin for lift on the wings. I spend the winter in St George and sometimes I'll come down for golf in the summer because prices are low, can walk on any course and the courses are in great shape getting them ready for the winter (much the same as in Phoenix). I have a good friend in Idaho Falls who's an old VW person. I pass through there every year on my way to Island Park for an annual fishing trip with some old work buddies.
  6. Northern Utah (Wasatch front - SLC center, Ogden North, Provo south) summer daytime temps run in the 90's with some triple digits thrown in for good measure. Low humidity "it's a dry heat". We're in the desert. Yes, do the ceramic headers too. Both my current 240Z and my '73 lets me know when it's too hot out. Don't know how much difference humidity makes to a car but I guess Panama has way higher humidity than we have in Utah.
  7. I run the 60 amp internally regulated alternator and the dual electric fans and it works just fine.
  8. I've been running 5/16" on the supply side and 3/16" on the return side (Gates E85 rated low pressure fuel hose) since 2017 and have never had an issue, even when car sits for months over the winter. Fuel filter stays full.
  9. I also have been using this "joe Gibbs" racing oil since 2017 and am quite pleased with it.
  10. I missed the diesel torque also. I have a friend with a pre turbo 240D Mercedes sedan. It's the absolute most under powered car I've ever driven. On hills I have to go in the truck lane with flashers and the semi's pass me!
  11. The wheel cylinder in your picture is the old series 1 style. The newer wheel cylinder isn't as tall and the brake line connects going straight in from the back rather than at an angle from the side. Check the thread I linked in post #5 of this thread for a visual comparison of the series 1 wheel cylinder and the newer cylinders.
  12. Is it just me or are there 4 screws that hold the headlight housing to the car body? I think in your video there's a screw hole top left that is missing a screw?
  13. Very interesting that this has come up. I had asked about the newer vs the older M/C back in December and never got a definitive answer. From what you say it sounds like this has been done on your car. My guess is that you can swap the large and small reservoirs on the M/C and call it good. Of course we all have opinions.
  14. I didn't see it mentioned, but with the 60 amp internally regulated alternator you do need to replace the external voltage regulator with one of these. Motorsport! Alternator Upgrade Adaptor, 70-72 240Z - The Z Store! Nissan-Datsun 240Z 260Z 280Z 280ZX 300ZX ( Z31 Z32 ) 350Z 370Z Parts
  15. Sweet find! I see miles of smiles coming your way.
  16. From what you say I'm guessing it's the rear brakes. I you decide it's the wheel cylinders and you want to replace them you can use the newer cylinders with some minor brake line tweaking on the back of the drums. Here's a thread I did when I replaced mine.
  17. Sorry I misunderstood who you were directing at. I personally wouldn't have seen it as boasting. Just like I don't see datsunzguy, myself and others boasting with pictures of our cars in our signatures. If you got a great car boast away, most of us are happy for anyone that acquires a great car and we do like to see them.
  18. I also thought the "no" response was a little on the negative side and really doesn't have anything to do with you being proud of your find. My guess is that Patcon also thought you had a nice find and was just curious on the range of the price for such a nice find (that us late comers have no idea on without pictures). Charles (patcon) is one of the more helpful/supportive people on these boards and other than you I doubt there's anybody else on these boards that saw his question as overly prying. I know when I was growing up and I got a just "no" (or "maybe" which always meant "no") from my parents it was viewed as a negative response. This whole thing reminds me of the kid that didn't get what he wanted so he took his ball away.
  19. Being a little late to this dance I'm wondering what this car looks like?? The pictures have been removed. Any possibility they could be put back so us Johnny come lately's can see this car?
  20. What do you use to transfer your vinyl? Do you properly cut the tracks out of a single file per album side? I do still have all my vinyl. I've actually duplicated most of my vinyl on CD. Rip with DBPoweramp. Drive all the music with Logitech Media Server.
  21. Not "The Prodigy" As ZH put in the Saturday Night Music thread. Just Prodigy the online service. I used it in the early 1990's. Since I worked for "the phone company" (Mountain Bell) in IT, I had internet access from the office. At home the best I could do was 56Kbps dialup.
  22. I bought the dual fan, shroud and 3 row radiator from MSA. It came with a Auto Cool controller. The temp sensor is like a foil thingy that wedges between the radiator output and the hose. I believe this is where the coolest water is leaving the radiator.
  23. Our youngest (43) gave me these coasters that he made on his new 3D printer. They're glued to cork beds and a clearcoat over the Z emblem. I think they're pretty hot!
