  1. What a great show. Loved the line "he's got a point, you know". And then there's the Rock Man, "you see what you want to see and you hear what you want to hear".
  2. So how do you start your 240Z? For 48 years on a cold engine start I pull the choke, hold the pedal to the floor and crank. Generally it fires within 4 seconds. On a warm engine I just have to touch the key and it starts right up.
  3. I don't think the Catholic Church cared much for this when it came out, but I thought this covered the Easter story fairly well.
  4. I saw them in roughly 2004 at Cactus Pete's in Jackpot, NV (no Mark Lindsay though). They did all their hits, very small venue (maybe 100 people) and was a great show.
  5. From the serial number of the car it should have the body vents in the hatch. I'd be more inclined to go with @Racer X and the quarters replaced.
  6. Interesting, a couple things I noticed on this car. I'd never seen a series I car with both body and hatch vents. I think the hatch vents went away at serial number 20000, so this car is close to the end of the series I line of cars. My 71 is 17486 and it still has the 240Z body emblems where the body vents were placed in the series II cars. Also my map light has the hood which supposedly is a series II thing where this car doesn't have the hood on the map light.

Check to see if you have a ZX distributor. I think the ballast resistor gets bypassed when using a ZX distributor. An easy way to ID is if there's a "matchbox" on the side of the distributor, it would be labeled something like E12-80 or E12-92 (don't believe those who tell you E12-80 is the only one that works).

Interesting, did these "original California" cars really have the non-pollution balance tube on the carbs?

Love those wheels. I had them on my 73 240Z until I hit a manhole without the cover on it in the night and broke one wheel. Couldn't find replacements.
  18. I guess this is also telling of my age...
  19. Like tin foil would?
  20. Agree, but I can do without the bars on top of the rear bumper!

  22. My MSA 6 -> 1 headers only came with the MSA header gasket and I re-used my factory now 50 year old studs, nuts (that spun down with my fingers), fat washers and bolts. Maybe that's why my MSA header gasket and headers haven't leaked in the 4 years since I installed them?
  23. Just one comment on the header gasket and not sure it applies in your case. The MSA headers come with a gasket that MSA says should be used rather than the OEM gasket. Here's the gasket for headers. Motorsport! Performance Header Gasket, 70-74 240Z-260Z - The Z Store! Nissan-Datsun 240Z 260Z 280Z 280ZX 300ZX ( Z31 Z32 ) 350Z 370Z Parts
  24. Thanks! I have the ZX dizzy, but it was installed by my Z mechanic almost 20 years ago. I checked and they did use the correct adapter thingy. Just FYI- The E12-92 matchbox works exactly like the E12-80 when only the top connector is used and the lower connector is left open. I've been running the E12-92 matchbox on the dizzy for almost 20 years and it works just great.
  25. Do you know what the "adapter sort of part" is?
